Job Description
Position: Workshop Superintendent
Department: Plantations
Location: Head Office – Ndola
Reports To: Director of Plantations
Job Purpose
To implement and coordinate all aspects of workshop maintenance and repair work to provide profitable, efficient, and reliable services at minimum cost.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Budget & Expenditure Management
Prepare sectional annual budgets for approval.
Monitor expenditure to ensure it remains within limits.
Maintenance Planning & Supervision
Develop annual maintenance programs for all sections.
Supervise and control the execution of these programs to ensure maximum utilization of power and fleet with minimum downtime.
Complex Job Oversight
Supervise and carry out more complex jobs beyond the capability of subordinates.
Ensure prompt and quality completion of assignments.
Reporting
Prepare monthly technical operations reports and submit to the Director of Plantations.
Staff Motivation & Management
Motivate subordinates to achieve higher productivity.
Asset Management
Recommend and seek approval for write-offs of obsolete equipment and vehicles.
Other Duties
Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Grade 12 School Certificate
Diploma in Mechanical Technology
At least 5 years’ experience as head of a workshop in a reputable firm
Knowledge & Skills
Strong understanding of light and heavy automotive equipment systems
