SUPPLY CHAIN DIRECTOR (PERMANENT)

This executive position is based at Nakambala and reports to the Country Managing Director.

The successful incumbent will be responsible for leading the execution of the company’s supply chain strategy and ensuring that the company’s inventories are optimal to maximize production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure supply reliability, procurement and outbound logistics cost targets are set & met.
  • Lead end-to-end optimization of Supply Chain planning and delivery in-Country, simplifying approach and improving delivery over time.
  • Ensure coordination across all relevant stakeholders and collaboration across Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP), Outbound Logistics, Warehouse and Procurement.
  • Identify issues and opportunities for improvement in the supply chain process, metrics and subsequent activities and guide the in-Country business strategy across Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP), Procurement and Outbound Logistics.
  • Ensure demand and supply reviews are conducted effectively and shared as input into Group’s overarching processes, to balance working capital, generate revenue and support stock availability.
  • Ensure country alignment to Group Procurement’s strategic vision, policies, processes, and procedures to deliver on country targeted savings.
  • Minimize supply chain costs and improve efficiencies, ultimately contributing towards improved profitability.
  • Optimize stock coverage to reduce working capital requirements where possible.
  • Achieve integrated business planning process to ensure supply reliability & productivity at optimized cost.
  • Lead the procurement team to maximize value and minimize risk to the Country by ensuring compliance.
  • Lead Country warehouse operations towards fit for purpose facilities & processes, balancing cost with service, quality & safety.
  • Lead logistics excellence through demand-driven, best-in-class and fit for purpose logistics and transport structures, to optimize the distribution network & processes to ensure cost- effectiveness, whilst delivering excellent customer service.
  • Manage customer and corporate relationships at a strategic level.
  • Ensure an optimized distribution footprint and development of an effective Route to Consumer (RtC) model.
  • Drive in-Country commercialization and customer-centricity.
  • Adhere to safety standards, promote world class safety practices and a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Experience

  • BSc/BA Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management (Procurement or Logistics), Engineering, or related field.
  • MSc in a Supply Chain/MBA or related programme will be an added advantage.
  • 10 -15 years’ management experience in Logistics/Warehousing/Supply Chain/ Procurement within an Africa FMCG environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Senior Executive roles.
  • Proven high ethical standards.
  • Commercial & financial acumen.
  • Proven track record in managing and developing teams.
  • Ability to lead and manage significant change within the procurement and inventory function as well as providing strong organizational leadership through operational changes and transitions.
  • Ability to build a customer centric procurement function that is able to drive performance delivery and governance compliance throughout the organization.
  • Knowledge of relevant software (warehouse/logistics) management systems; project management & procurement experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant legislative and regulatory standards.
  • Member of Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply (ZIPS) – Mandatory.
