ZCAS University invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following positions:

5. JOB TITLE: SICK BAY NURSE (1 POSITION)

5.1. Job Purpose

To provide basic healthcare services, first aid, and medical support to students and staff, manage minor illnesses and injuries, maintain medical records, and ensure the effective operation of the sick bay.

5.2. Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provide first aid and basic medical care to students and staff for minor illnesses and injuries.
2. Assess patients’  health conditions and determine appropriate immediate care or referral to external health facilities.
3. Administer prescribed medication and basic treatments in accordance with medical guidelines.
4. Maintain accurate medical records and confidential health information for all patients attended to at the sick bay.
5. Monitor and manage the sick bay environment, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and availability of medical supplies.
6. Provide health education and promote wellness initiatives such as hygiene, disease prevention, and healthy living.
7. Coordinate referrals and emergency transfers to hospitals or clinics when advanced medical care is required.
8. Prepare periodic reports on sick bay activities, common illnesses, and health trends within the university community.

5.3. Qualifications and Experience

1. Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate with at least five (5) credits including English and Mathematics.
2. Diploma or Degree in Nursing.
3. At least three (3) years relevant work experience in clinical nursing practice.
4. Training in first aid or emergency care will be an added advantage.
5. Valid practising licence from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia (NMCZ).

5.4. Key Competencies and Attributes

6. Good organizational and time management skills.
7. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
