ZABS is a statutory body currently operating under the Standards Act No. 4 of 2017. Under this Act, ZABS is mandated to provide Standardization and Quality Assurance services to industry in order to support production of goods and services of acceptable quality for national, regional and international markets. ZABS also acts as a link between local industry and regional and international standardization and quality assurance (SQA) organizations.

VACANCY
The Bureau wishes to invite suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following vacant positions:

1. SENIOR LABORATORY ANALYST – CONDOMS, PETROLEUM AND TEXTILES
(ZABS 04×1)

A. JOB PURPOSE
To ensure the quality and safety of products by conducting thorough laboratory analyses and tests on condoms, textiles, packaging, petroleum, and engineering laboratories by adhering to national and international standards.

B. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinating comprehensive analytical testing and rigorous evaluation of sample materials to ensure full compliance with established regulatory standards and quality specifications
• Reviews, validates, and authorizes test reports, ensuring the accurate preparation and presentation of analytical results with precision and technical clarity.
• Implements and maintains quality assurance protocols as stipulated by ISO 17025:2017 International Standard
• Ensures all laboratory equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
• Ensures all activities comply with relevant regulations and standards.

C. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

• Grade 12 Certificate
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• ZAQA qualification verification certificates
• Holds relevant certifications in laboratory analysis and quality assurance, including training in ISO/IEC 17025:2017 international standard
• High level of accuracy in document management, record-keeping, and procurement processing.
• 5 years in a laboratory setting, preferably with experience in testing condoms, petroleum, packaging, and textiles of which 3 years should be at management level.
• Proficiency in laboratory equipment and testing methodologies used in condoms, petroleum, packaging, and textiles testing.
• High level of accuracy in conducting tests and reporting results.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
