Job Description


SGC Investments Ltd Transport Division with its Head Office and workshop in Ndola is inviting applications for the position of Mechanic.

Key Responsibilities

Keeping equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles; completing preventive maintenance such as, engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters.
Maintaining vehicle functional condition by listening to driver complaints; conducting inspections; repairing engine failures; repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions; replacing parts and components.
Maintaining vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and communicate the panel beater if any assistance on body repair.
Maintaining vehicle records by recording service and repairs.
Keeping shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
Keeping in good conditions of all the tools & equipment’s in the workshop.
Coordinating with stores on the inventory of old parts on daily basis.
Ensure workshop safety to prevent accidents, injury or damage of property.
Ensure strict implementation of company rules, regulations and procedures within company policies.
Participate in daily housekeeping of workshop yard and workshop bays.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Industry knowledge
Problem solving and attention to detail skills
Considerable knowledge of diesel engines
Good interpersonal skill
Good work ethics

Qualifications & Experience

Full Grade 12 Certificate
Craft certificate in Automotive mechanic
5 years mechanical experience in busy automotive workshop
Deep mechanical experience in European and Chinese trucks added advantage
