SCHOOL OF NURSING AND MIDWIFERY SCIENCES
Levy Mwanawasa Medical University (LMMU) invites applications from suitably qualified, motivated, and experienced professionals to fill the following academic and clinical positions in the School of Nursing and Midwifery Sciences. All positions are on a full-time basis.
7. LECTURER – MENTAL HEALTH NURSING
Job Purpose
To deliver teaching, clinical instruction, and supervision in Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing, while supporting the development of student competence, professional practice, and wellbeing in line with approved curricula and standards.
Key responsibilities:
Deliver teaching and learning in Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing in accordance with approved curricula and academic standards.
Supervise and support students during psychiatric clinical placements to ensure safe practice, ethical conduct, and attainment of required competencies.
Provide academic mentorship and pastoral support to students, with due regard to student wellbeing and professional boundaries.
Support and participate in research, scholarly activities, and academic initiatives relevant to Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing.
Participate in curriculum development, academic meetings, and quality assurance activities.
Qualifications and Experience:
Grade 12 Certificate with five credits including English, Mathematics, and Science
BSc Mental Health Nursing or related discipline
MSc in Mental Health or Psychiatric Nursing
Minimum three (3) years tertiary teaching experience
NMCZ registration and ZAQA clearance
Key Attributes and Competences:
Demonstrated competence in Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing practice and teaching.
Effective communication and presentation skills.
High standards of professionalism, ethics, and integrity.
Ability to mentor, guide, and support students academically and clinically.
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary academic and clinical team.
Good organisational and time management skills.
Demonstrated involvement in research activities and/or contribution to scholarly publications will be an added advantage.
