Job Description
JOB VACANCY – 10 PSV TRUCK DRIVERS
A well-established transport and logistics company with operations across Zambia is inviting applications from suitably qualified, experienced, and self-motivated individuals to fill the position of PSV Truck Driver.
The successful candidates will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, timely, and efficient transportation of company products and materials to various branches, clients, and designated delivery points across the country. The role requires disciplined individuals with excellent driving skills, a strong understanding of road safety regulations, and the ability to work in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport company products, goods, and materials to branches, clients, and designated destinations across Zambia safely and within scheduled timelines.
- Ensure proper loading, securing, transportation, and offloading of goods to prevent damages, losses, or delays during transit.
- Verify goods against delivery notes, invoices, and dispatch documentation before departure and upon delivery to ensure accuracy and accountability.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips, including checking tyres, brakes, lights, engine oil, coolant, and other critical components to ensure roadworthiness.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper care of assigned vehicles at all times.
- Adhere strictly to traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company driving policies while demonstrating defensive driving practices.
- Promptly report accidents, incidents, breakdowns, mechanical faults, delays, or any irregularities encountered during operations.
- Maintain accurate daily records of trips, mileage covered, fuel usage, vehicle servicing schedules, and delivery activities.
- Implement effective fuel management practices to support cost efficiency and uninterrupted operations.
- Work closely with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure efficient loading and delivery coordination.
- Ensure the safety and security of cargo, company property, passengers, and fellow road users at all times.
- Provide professional and courteous customer service when interacting with clients and members of the public.
- Perform any other duties assigned by management in line with the role and operational requirements of the company.
Requirements
- Full Grade Twelve (12) Certificate.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ proven experience in long-distance or cross-country driving.
- Valid driving licence (Class C, C1, CE, D, etc.) with demonstrated experience operating commercial vehicles.
- Valid PSV Licence with a clean driving record and no major traffic offences.
- Strong knowledge of the Zambia Highway Code and commitment to safe and defensive driving practices.
- Basic first aid and fire safety skills, with the ability to respond appropriately during emergencies.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to identify early mechanical faults and conduct routine vehicle inspections.
- Physically fit and capable of lifting heavy goods and working under varying weather conditions.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Honest, disciplined, reliable, and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict delivery schedules.
- Willingness to travel extensively across Zambia and work flexible hours when required.
- A valid passport will be an added advantage.
