Job Description
ZABS is a statutory body currently operating under the Standards Act No. 4 of 2017. Under this Act, ZABS is mandated to provide Standardization and Quality Assurance services to industry in order to support production of goods and services of acceptable quality for national, regional and international markets. ZABS also acts as a link between local industry and regional and international standardization and quality assurance (SQA) organizations.
3. TRAINING OFFICER – (ZABS 5 X 01)
A. JOB PURPOSE
To provide training on standards to industry and other stakeholders in order to enhance their capacity in the interpretation and application of various standards as well as to enhance the quality, safety and competitiveness of products and services on the market.
B. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conducts regular assessments to identify training needs in specified sectors within industry and executes action plans to ensure that the training curriculum meet current market needs.
• Designs and develops comprehensive training programs and materials that align with the Bureau’s objectives and industry standards.
• Ensures training content is current, relevant, and engaging for participants.
• Undertakes effectively the provision of Standardization Quality Assurance (SQA) consultancy services in order to enhance the competitiveness of the industry
• Conducts training sessions, workshops, and seminars, utilizing various instructional methods to accommodate diverse learning styles.
• Undertakes effectively the provision of training on standards to industry and other stakeholders in order to enhance their capacity in the interpretation and application of various standards.
• Maintains accurate records of training activities, participant attendance, and training outcomes.
• Prepares reports on training programs for management review, including recommendations for future training initiatives.
• Stays updated on industry trends, standards, and best practices in training and development.
• Pursues professional development opportunities to enhance personal competencies and training methodologies.
• Perform other duties as maybe assigned by the supervisor
C. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
• Grade 12 Certificate
• ZAQA qualifications verification certificates
• Bachelor’s degree in any Natural Science or Bachelor of Engineering degree in any field or a related field.
• Teaching methodology or Train the Trainer certificate
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace
• Three (3) years of experience in training and development, preferably within a standards or regulatory environment.
• Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning platforms an added advantage
• Familiarity with adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies
• Basic knowledge of graphic design tools is a plus
• Knowledgeable in at least one ISO standard eg ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001
• Expertise in instructional design, adult learning principles, and training facilitation.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective training delivery and reporting.
• Ability to analyses training needs, evaluate program effectiveness, and make data driven decisions.
