PATH is a partner to the National Malaria Elimination Centre (NMEC) in the effort to control and eliminate malaria in Zambia. PATH is partnering with the NMEC to implement a Phase III large-scale trial of a promising new tool for malaria vector control, the attractive targeted sugar bait (ATSB). The trial is operating in Western Province in the districts of Kaoma, Nkeyema, and Luampa from 2021-2023. The trial is operating in 70 study clusters with activities including: household installation and monitoring of ATSBs, cohort study of children aged 5-14 years, household survey, mosquito collections for entomological monitoring, community engagement activities, and qualitative research

PATH seeks a Temporary Procurement Officer for the ATSB study. The temporary Procurement Officer will work under the supervision of the Finance and Operations Officer to support procurement of goods and services. The contract duration for this role is 4 months.

Responsibilities:

Facilitate execution of local procurements including supplies, venue bookings for meetings, workshops, and trainings.
Obtain quotations from suppliers and analyze quotations.
Obtain appropriate review and approval before purchase order is issued.
Prepare documents and attend Procurement Review Committee.
Keep an updated procurement list on Box.
Transmit and prioritize approved purchase orders and supporting documents to suppliers.
Review, update, and maintain purchase order records until they are closed.
Track deliveries and make sure the project team receives exactly what was ordered from suppliers.
Facilitate movement of supplies from Lusaka to Kaoma office.
Assist domestic and international travel arrangements for staff and visitors.
Maintain log sheets and fuel reconciliation for both project and hired vehicles.
Communicate vehicle movements with the car hire companies. This includes communicating the number of vehicles to travel, on what date, and inspection of the vehicles for PATH standards (including insurance coverage).
Give updates on procurement status for all procurements.
Attend team meetings and execute any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required Experience

Diploma/ Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related fields.
Minimum of Advanced Diploma in Purchasing and Supply from a recognized Institution of learning
Not less than 5 years of work experience in a procurement and supply in a fast-paced environment
Preferably a member of Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply (ZIPS)
Must be a self-starter, self-motivated with the ability to communicate at all levels
Computer literate (especially MS Office and MS Outlook)
Good communication skill, independent worker, and team player
Work experience in an NGO environment will be an added advantage
Must have legal authorization to work in Zambia.
