SCHOOL OF NURSING AND MIDWIFERY SCIENCES
Levy Mwanawasa Medical University (LMMU) invites applications from suitably qualified, motivated, and experienced professionals to fill the following academic and clinical positions in the School of Nursing and Midwifery Sciences. All positions are on a full-time basis.
10. TEACHING ASSISTANT – OPHTHALMIC NURSING
Job Purpose:
To support the delivery of Ophthalmic Nursing education through clinical teaching, skills demonstration, and supervision of students, ensuring effective integration of theory and practice in line with University and professional standards.
Key responsibilities:
Support lecturers in the delivery of ophthalmic nursing lectures, tutorials, and clinical practical sessions.
Supervise students during ophthalmic clinical placements and skills laboratory sessions.
Demonstrate ophthalmic nursing procedures and techniques in accordance with approved clinical guidelines.
Assist in the assessment and evaluation of students’ clinical competencies and performance.
Reinforce professional conduct, ethical practice, and patient safety among students.
Provide guidance and academic support to students during clinical training.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, clinical performance, and assessments.
Participate in departmental meetings, examinations, and academic activities as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
Grade 12 Certificate with five credits including English, Mathematics, and Science.
Bachelor of Science in Ophthalmic Nursing.
Must have a minimum of two years Clinical teaching experience at university level or its equivalent.
Proof of research and publications will be also an added advantage.
NMCZ registration and ZAQA clearance.

Advanced diploma in Clinical Instructing will be an added advantage.
