SCHOOL OF NURSING AND MIDWIFERY SCIENCES
Levy Mwanawasa Medical University (LMMU) invites applications from suitably qualified, motivated, and experienced professionals to fill the following academic and clinical positions in the School of Nursing and Midwifery Sciences. All positions are on a full-time basis.

12. TEACHING ASSISTANT – MENTAL HEALTH AND PSYCHIATRIC NURSING

Job Purpose:
To support the delivery of Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing education through clinical teaching, skills demonstration, and supervision of students, ensuring effective application of theory to practice in line with University and professional standards.

Key responsibilities:

Supervise students during mental health and psychiatric clinical practice.
Demonstrate mental health and psychiatric nursing skills in accordance with approved clinical guidelines and standards.

Support practical assessments, clinical evaluations, and documentation of student performance.

Reinforce clinical competencies, ethical conduct, and professional standards among students.

Provide guidance and academic support to students during clinical training.
Work closely with academic staff to ensure alignment and consistency between theory and clinical practice.

Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and clinical assessments.

Participate in departmental meetings, examinations, and academic activities as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

Grade 12 Certificate with five credits including English, Mathematics, and Science.

Bachelor of Science in Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing.

Must have a minimum of two years Clinical teaching experience at university level or its equivalent.

NMCZ registration and ZAQA clearance.

Strong clinical competence in Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing care and management.

Ability to demonstrate clinical procedures clearly and effectively.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

High standards of professionalism, ethics, and integrity.

Commitment to student development and mentorship.

Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and as part of an academic team.

Advanced diploma in Clinical Instructing will be an added advantage.
