Job Description


The USAID Controlling HIV Epidemic for Key and Underserved Populations (CHEKUP II) Activity was awarded on September 13, 2022, with implementation through September 6, 2027.  USAID CHEKUP II is implemented by John Snow Health Zambia (JSH) in partnership with JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (JSI) and Media 365. The Activity aims to support the Ministry of Health in mitigating against and attaining HIV epidemic control by increasing equitable access to, and use of person-centered, community-driven, and high-quality HIV prevention services for key and underserved (priority) populations. USAID CHEKUP II Activity operates in seven districts with the highest HIV-burden in Zambia. These include: Chirundu, Lusaka, Kabwe, Kapiri-Mposhi, Kasama, Chipata, and Nakonde.

 

The Activity aims to address the needs of people living with HIV (PLHIV) and those most at risk of acquiring HIV and contribute to HIV mitigation and epidemic control. USAID CHEKUP II seeks to improve the health outcomes of priority and key populations by preventing new HIV infections and ensuring that all infected are identified, diagnosed, linked to treatment and virally suppressed. USAID CHEKUP II Activity seeks dynamic and highly experienced candidates to fill the following vacant positions

Summary of the Position:

Position: Strategic Information Assistant(6 positions)

Location: Kabwe, Kapiri Mposhi, Kasama, Chirundu, Nakonde and Lusaka 

Duration: Full-Time position

Reports to: Strategic Information Coordinator

Role’s Purpose:

The Strategic Information Assistant will be responsible for achieving and maintaining the required standard of data quality and management. The SIA will be responsible for routine data entry, aggregation and summary in different reporting formats (daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly) across all reporting platforms (both physical and electronic). She/ he will assist the Strategic Information Coordinator in conducting data review meetings, data audits and routine data verifications at site level.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Perform data entry of client records in the Electronic Health Record Systems – KP Database, PREP management system and Smart Care, and ensure that entries of all clients are up to date.
  • In collaboration with the providers and counsellor supervisors, ensure that all registers are up to date, ready for data collection and reporting.
  • Ensure that all Client Advisors and/or Community Health Workers have updated all of their activities in all necessary registers in preparation for data collection.
  • Support data demand and use at facility level by preparing routine reports (e.g. client appointments, late for pharmacy, clients due for viral load) and sharing with providers for necessary action.
  • Provide support to the providers and Strategic Information (SI) coordinators in compiling weekly and monthly reports.
  • Ensure Health Management Information Systems (HMIS) reports are reconciled with Ministry of Health and other partners’ monthly reports.
  • Assist SI coordinators in conducting on site data verification, data audits and data review meetings.
  • Ensure that clients files are well organized at the facility and that routine file counts are done at the facility.
  • Ensure that parallel reporting systems such the KP database are well updated by working with providers.
  • Ensure that joint data verification is conducted with treatment partners where recipients of care are referred to other facilities.
  • Monitor and flag out possible Interruption in Treatment recipients of care and ensure that patient status forms are updated both on SmartCare and ART physical files.
  • Work with the SI coordinators to ensure the SMARTCARE software is up to date and fully functional and assist in upgrading when requested for.
  • Ensure that all SMARTCARE deliverables (TDBS, MER reports, etc.) required are generated and submitted to the SI Coordinator routinely.
  • Any other data-related tasks as requested.

Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Competencies

  •  Attained grade 12 with 5 credits or better.
  • Diploma in Statistics, Computer Science, Monitoring and Evaluation, Project Management is an added advantage.
  • Experience in key population data management.
  • Demonstrated experience and competence in the use of SMARTCARE, DHIS2.
  • Knowledge of the Health Management Information System (HMIS) and of the HIV Information systems.
  • Previous experience working as a data entry clerk is an added advantage but not a requirement.
  • Computer proficient in Microsoft word and Excel
