Job Opportunity: Stores Officer
Reporting: Head of Water Resources & Construction, with dotted lines to Manager-Procurement, Administration and Logistics
Contract Type: Short Term Contract – Subject to Renewal
Location: Tahalima, Sesheke
Mafisa is a Zambian non-profit Organisation established in 2018. Currently focused on Mwandi and surrounding districts, Mafisa is strengthening climate-smart, productive pastoralist livelihoods in Zambia’s poorest and most climate-impacted regions.
About the role:
The Stores Officer will oversee daily operations of the Tahalima warehouse, managing the receipt, storage, control, and issuance of materials, tools, equipment, and fuel. The warehouse primarily supports the Water Team for drilling and construction projects and serves the Mwandi Field Team. Strong attention to detail, good record-keeping, and coordination skills are essential to ensure materials are available and organisational assets are safeguarded.
Key Responsibilities:
• Receive, inspect, and record all incoming materials, tools, equipment, and fuel
• Store items safely and maintain organised stock levels
• Issue materials against approved requests and track usage
• Maintain accurate inventory records and prepare stock reports
• Monitor and control tools, equipment, and fuel stocks
• Ensure warehouse safety, cleanliness, and security
• Coordinate with field teams, procurement, and Head Office
Requirements:
• Diploma in Stores Management, Procurement, or related field
• 2–3 years’ experience in warehouse/stores management
• Experience with construction materials and fuel is an advantage
• Strong record-keeping and organisational skills
• Basic computer skills (Excel/inventory systems)
• Honest, reliable, and detail-oriented
• Fluency in Lozi is an added advantage
• Willingness to work in field/camping conditions
