Job Description


Rusangu University, an Adventist institution of higher learning, registered and recognized by the Higher Education Authority (HEA) is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced candidate to fill the vacant positions stated below.
REGISTERED NURSE-MIDWIFE (x1)
Location: Monze Campus, Monze
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Registered Nurse Diploma.
  • Advanced Registered Midwifery Diploma.
  • Full Grade 12 Certificate.
  • registration Certificate from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia.
  • NMCZ practicing license.
  • Minimum of two years’ work in a health care provision setting.

Expectations:
To provide health care services to Rusangu University and the immediate community around the institution in accordance with the Zambian Ministry of Health.
Responsibilities:
  • Attend to all patients (out patients and in- patients), conduct a comprehensive assessment, plan and implement the care
  • Implement nursing and midwifery care based on evidence
  • Evaluate the outcome of care and refer patients to the next level of care when need arises
  • Participate in health teaching for the individual client, family and community
  • Provide all the bedside nursing activities
  • Supervise and guide/assist University students attached to the clinic
  • Record and report care given to patients accordingly
  • Be able to run a clinic e.g. supervising junior staff members, preparing duty schedules, ordering drugs, equipment and other medical/surgical supplies for ward use.
  • Attend and actively participate in all University and Ministry of Health meetings when called upon.
  • Liaise with the District Health Office, Rusangu health center and other Health facilities to ensure quality and continuity ofcare.
  • Write and submit reports quarterly to the University, District Health Office and to any relevant authorities as need arises.
  • Conduct a comprehensive inventory and update records on a daily basis.
  • Carry out any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of basic Counselling Services
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Be self-motivated and creative
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer skills in word, excel, power point
