Job Purpose
The Regional Retail Manager is responsible for the effective performance of full-service branches within his or her assigned region, including operations, production, customer service, training, security and safety in accordance with the bank’s objectives. Leads in achieving individual, branch, regional and bank-wide goals through new business development, referrals and retention of account relationships. He or she serves as an Ambassador of our bank’s mission, vision and values. Responsible for the staffing, profit, performance and other operations at each branch in the northern region. Coach and mentor Branch Managers to ensure that the Bank’s business plan is executed and operational procedures and sales & service standards are followed. Take the lead in maximizing business growth and performance to achieve or exceed financial goals, while delivering on the Bank’s standards in sales and service.

 

 

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

  • Take the lead in achieving individual, branch, regional and bank-wide goals through new business development, referrals and retention of account relationships.
  • Mentor, coach and support Branch Managers, helping them to be successful and fulfilled producers and leaders
  • Promote the Banks sales and service culture through coaching and staff motivation
  • Provide leadership, accountability, encouragement and training to branch managers and teams in the pursuit of our bank’s core purpose.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Relationship Manager to establish and achieve meaningful production goals, complete retail initiatives, maintain uniformity of bank-wide best practices and contribute to the retail division’s long-term growth and efficiency.
  • Maintain effective, positive relationships with branch managers and other staff by consistent in-branch visits, phone calls and email correspondence.
  • Recognize and reward behaviours, attitudes and results which contribute to our company’s success
  • Instructing branch management and supervisors at every location and reporting your regional branches’ performance to upper administration.
  • Must be aware of risk and control of the operational procedure and share it with all respective staff accordingly. In addition, also need to have a long-term vision and mission.
  • Maintain ongoing recruiting relationships resulting in the hire of skilled employee candidates in order to build and sustain strong branch teams.
  • Oversee and support the regional branch budgeting process
  • Provide leadership, accountability and support to Branch Managers in the completion of the annual Branch Assessment and Planning Tool
  • Effectively complete assigned performance evaluations and support branch supervisors in this process
  • Support other region’s branches in the absence of their assigned Regional Retail Manager
  • Coordinate effective staff coverage within assigned regions.
  • Provide accountability and support to Retail Lenders in loan risk management and problem loan resolution
  • Work with Retail Operations and other department leads to assess, create and develop new bank efficiencies, products or procedures.
  • Respond effectively to escalated customer questions, suggestions, concerns and complaints
  • Ensure appropriate Bank representation at certain regional community events as well as ongoing leadership through civic and community organization involvement
  • Plan, organize and deliver effective regional meetings and other training as necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Executive Management

Primary Areas of Accountability:

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Business Administration, Banking and Finance / Economics or Commensurate Education
  • Must have a minimum of 10 years in Branch Management
  • Must have been a Regional Manager for a minimum of 4-6 years with any of the top five banks in Zambia
  • Familiarity with all banking products
  • Must be well exposed to Large & Mid-Corporate, Retail and Digital Banking
  • Thorough knowledge of all activities associated with Bank product and
    service needs of individuals and small businesses, including
    regulatory/legal issues.
  • Must be experienced in organized sales calling programs.
  • Must be proactive in learning as a continuous improvement
  • Ability to generate a variety of reports and presentations displaying regional performance
  • Strong customer service skills in the areas of handling disputes and treating customers with care
  • Basic computer skills, including knowledge/use of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
