Introduction to the AESA country office:

AGIC Energy Southern Africa Limited (AESA) is a subsidiary of AGIC Energy global. AESA positions itself as a transformative force in the renewable energy landscape of East and Southern Africa. Leveraging the abundant solar resources of the region, the company is poised to address the pervasive energy access challenges that hamper socio-economic development, particularly in rural and remote areas. AGIC Energy’s strategic focus encompasses the supply of advanced solar hybrid products and packages for residential and small businesses, state-of-the-art Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), construction of impactful solar farms, and innovative solar electric car charging solutions.

AGIC Energy Southern Africa Limited (AESA) was incorporated in February 2023 with offices in Lusaka, Zambia. AESA works through resellers and distributors across 25 countries covering East and Southern Africa.

AGIC Energy Southern Africa wishes to recruit suitably qualified candidates for in the following positions:

1. Position: Project and Technical Officer

Reports to: Operations Manager

Location: Lusaka

Purpose of the role:

As the Technical/Project Officer at AGIC Energy Southern Africa Limited, you will oversee the execution and delivery of technical projects, particularly focusing on renewable energy systems. This role demands an individual who is both technically proficient and an effective project manager, capable of steering projects from conception to fruition, while ensuring technical accuracy and regulatory compliance.

Key roles and responsibilities:

Technical Oversight:

Inspection and Systems Assessment:

Conduct detailed inspections and assessments of all electrical systems and equipment, ensuring adherence to design specifications.
Create inspection protocols and checklists to ensure a consistent and thorough examination of system components.
Safety and Compliance:

Enforce compliance with all national safety standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
Maintain a current understanding of safety regulations and implement necessary operational training and protocols updates.
Quality Assurance:

Develop and oversee a QA framework that guides solar system installations and maintenance, validating performance and longevity.
Lead quality checks and process validations during installation and commissioning to ensure adherence to project standards.
System Installation and Commissioning:

Oversee the solar system installation process, ensuring proper implementation and alignment with energy production targets.
Manage the system commissioning, including trial operations, calibrations, and performance assessments.
Maintenance Process Development:

Design maintenance schedules and procedures to maximize system efficiency and extend operational lifespan.
Implement predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance strategies, training maintenance teams accordingly.
Load Analysis and Power Management:

Conduct load analysis to optimize system sizing and scaling, ensuring energy production meets anticipated demands.
Enforce power management measures to maintain system operation within safe power limits.
Technical Troubleshooting and Innovation:

Develop a rapid response approach to technical issues, utilizing advanced tools for diagnostics and resolutions.
Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement by integrating the latest technological advancements and data analytics into project practices.
Stakeholder Collaboration:

Liaise with engineers, contractors, clients, and utility companies to ensure coordinated project execution.
Provide expert technical guidance and foster collaborative partnerships to support the company’s sustainability goals.
Project Leadership and Management:

Lead and define project scope, goals, and deliverables in alignment with organizational objectives.
Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short- and long-term goals.
Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

Degree or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Professional Engineering license or membership with the Engineering Institute of Zambia.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in project management in a technical or engineering field.
Demonstrated leadership in managing projects from inception to completion.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.
Strong problem-solving skills and excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
