About Forest Africa Zambia

Forest Africa Zambia Ltd is a Zambian-based company dedicated to sustainable natural resource management and the commercialization of inclusive indigenous non-timber forest-based value chains. The company works with rural communities to support livelihoods, empower women and youth, and promote environmental conservation through initiatives such as wild fruit collection, baobab and other indigenous fruit processing, and reforestation programs. Forest Africa Zambia Ltd also produces high-quality organic beverages and products, adhering to food safety and quality standards, while fostering climate resilience and sustainable community development.

Forest Africa Zambia Ltd, with the support of SNV Zambia and Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), through the Innovations for Poverty (IAP) challenge fund program, is implementing a business scale up project focused on strengthening inclusive supply chain (focus on smallholder strengthening) , improved processing capacity and increased distribution to local and potential export market.

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the following positions to join our project team: Project Manager, MEL Specialist, Logistics Officer, and Project Accounts Officer.

Project Manager

Job Title: Project Manager
Reports to: Managing Director
Duty Station: Chilanga with frequent field travel

Role Summary

The Project Manager will be responsible for the overall coordination, leadership, and successful delivery of the project. The role focuses on ensuring that project objectives are achieved efficiently, on time, and in compliance with approved plans, budgets, and donor requirements, while maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for project implementation.
  • Coordinate project planning, execution, and monitoring in line with approved work plans.
  • Lead and supervise project staff, promoting teamwork and accountability.
  • Oversee project budgeting, reporting, and compliance processes.
  • Coordinate engagement with community stakeholders, partners, and service providers.
  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of narrative and progress reports.
  • Identify implementation risks and support timely problem-solving and adaptive management.
  • Represent the project in internal and external meetings as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in project management, Development Studies, Agribusiness, Biological Sciences, Business Administration or related field (master’s an added advantage).
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in project management, agribusiness, or rural development (experience in smallholder farmer programs, wild fruit value chains, or food processing initiatives is an advantage).

  • Strong leadership, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working with smallholder farmers and community-based value chains.
  • Excellent reporting and communication skills.
