The company works with rural communities to support livelihoods, empower women and youth, and promote environmental conservation through initiatives such as wild fruit collection, baobab and other indigenous fruit processing, and reforestation programs. Forest Africa Zambia Ltd, with the support of SNV Zambia and Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), through the Innovations for Poverty (IAP) challenge fund program, is implementing a business scale up project focused on strengthening inclusive supply chain (focus on smallholder strengthening) , improved processing capacity and increased distribution to local and potential export market.
We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the following positions to join our project team: Project Manager, MEL Specialist, Logistics Officer, and Project Accounts Officer.
Project Accounts Officer
Job Title: Project Accounts Officer
Reports to: Project Manager / Finance Manager
Duty Station: Chilanga
Purpose of the Role
To manage project financial planning, accounting, budgeting, and reporting in line with donor and organizational financial policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the financial management of the project, ensuring proper utilization of budgets and compliance with donor and organizational policies.
- Maintain accurate financial records of all project activities, including tracking payments, grants, and disbursements.
- Prepare timely and accurate financial reports for management and donors, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
- Support project budgeting and financial planning, providing forecasts and cash flow projections to guide implementation.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, donor agreements, and internal financial policies.
- Support procurement processes by verifying invoices, contracts, and delivery notes.
- Assist in the preparation and facilitation of internal and external audits.
- Provide financial guidance and support to the project manager and team for decision-making and effective project execution.
- Monitor and manage project assets and inventory purchased under project activities.
- Collaborate closely with field staff and other project personnel to ensure accurate documentation and reporting of all financial transactions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
- Professional qualification (ZICA/ACCA) is an added advantage.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience managing finances for donor-funded projects.
- Strong knowledge of financial controls and reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
