Job Description

About Restless Development.
We know young people have the power to solve the challenges we face in our world, but they are being side-lined. We are the agency that works with young people so they can lead in solving those challenges. Whether that means supporting communities to end child marriage or prevent HIV, we work with young people to change their lives and the lives of people in their communities. Our programmes are genuinely life-changing, but we can’t do any of this without talented, creative individuals at every level of our organisation.

About the Role.

Restless Development Zambia is delivering, as part of the Children’s Future Programme, a set of proven approaches. Save the Children International in partnership with Village Water, Young Happy Health and Safe is currently implementing the Children’s Future Programme in the district of Petauke, Eastern Province. This intervention is a 10-year sponsorship programme that contributes towards ensuring that every child survives, learns and is protected. Through this programme the organisation has invested resources in interventions that ensure that no child dies before their fifth birthday. They receive a quality education and live free from violence. To achieve this, the programme will work with local communities to remove some of the barriers to survival, learning and protection.

Restless Development will support the meaningful participation of young people in advocacy on the Children’s Future Programme. Restless Development will facilitate youth-led research to collect evidence that will inform youth-led campaigns on key barriers for girls’ education such as child labour, teen pregnancy and early marriages. Restless Development will also support young people to access processes available for them to be heard and included in decision making processes at 3 levels (Provincial, District and Community – i.e Adolescent Technical Working Groups, Ward Development Committees and District Education Boards). This will ensure sustainable youth participation and youth-led accountability of the duty bearers in addressing child protection concerns, service delivery and managing the protection mechanisms at all levels.

Restless Development therefore seeks to recruit for the project, a dynamic, inspired and innovative young Zambian to fill the role of Programme Coordinator. The Programme Coordinator will be based in Petauke, Eastern Province as a direct facilitator of our  activities on the project to support direct programme implementation in targeted communities.
