STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: University Degree in one or more of the the following disciplines: Agriculture/Agronomy, Horticulture, Agriculture Economics, Agribusiness, Agricultural Extension, Agricultural Education Range Management, Livestock, Natural Resource Management or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Language: Fluency in both oral and written English. Understanding of local languages an added advantage.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

WFP Zambia has formulated a five (5) year Country Strategic Plan (CSP) (2023 – 2028) that aims at addressing challenges that inhibit the Zambian Government to sustainably attain Zero Hunger, a commitment that is fully embraced in the Long-term Vision 2030, the 8th National Development (NDP8) and the Joint UN Sustainable Development Partnership Framework (UNSDPF). The CSP will operate under 5 Strategic Outcomes which are; Outcome 1: Food-insecure people in Zambia (including refugees) affected by shocks are better able to meet their essential food security and nutrition needs in anticipation of, during and in the aftermath of crises; Outcome 2: Populations at risk of malnutrition in Zambia have improved access to and consumption of safe and diverse nutrient dense food all year round; Outcome 3: Food-insecure and risk-prone smallholder farming populations, especially women, youth and people with disabilities in targeted rural and urban areas, are enabled to withstand climate change and other shocks and benefit from more resilient food systems through increased incomes that contribute to improved nutrition and food diversity and increased economic and livelihood opportunities by 2030; Outcome 4: National institutions in Zambia have strengthened capacity to design policies and programmes that promote the enhancement of national food systems and deliver national emergency preparedness, anticipatory and response programmes, nutrition sensitive, shock responsive social protection, supply chain systems and sustainable food security programmes by 2030; Outcome 5: Humanitarian and development actors in Zambia have improved access to on-demand services and benefit from innovative, effective and cost-efficient supply chain capacity by 2030.

JOB PURPOSE
To provide effective specialized support and technical analyses to policy and programme activities that effectively meet implementation of WFP programmes at the field level.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

Provide technical support and assist in the development and implementation of various activities and processes within the specific area of work supporting alignment with wider programme policies and guidelines.
Provide specialized project management support to specific and/or defined programmes to ensure that the various activities are performed within the established targets following WFP’s policies and procedures.
Within the specific area of responsibility, prepare a range of reports and data analysis (e.g. food assistance needs, resource utilization, programme status, performance) and highlight trends/issues ensuring deliverables adhere to corporate standards and quality control.
Ensure and/or perform accurate, timely recording of data within the specific technical area of work (e.g. assistance programmes, food security and vulnerability assessments) and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
Liaise with internal counterparts to support effective collaboration, implementation and monitoring of ongoing project activities.
Coordinate and communicate with local partners, agencies, NGOs and government institutions to perform accurate food security analyses and to ensure efficient delivery of food assistance.
Support the capacity building of WFP staff, cooperating partners and national government within the specific technical area.
Act as a point of contact for resolution of a range of operational queries and problems within a specific technical area of responsibility.
Oversee and/or review the work of other support staff, providing practical advice and guidance, to contribute to delivering objectives to agreed standards and deadlines.
Follow standard emergency preparedness practices to ensure WFP is able to quickly respond and deploy needed resources to affected areas at the onset of the crisis.

OTHER SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS

Ability to build relationships with government and other stakeholders.
Ability to operate/use MS office programmes/apps (word, excel, power point).
Demonstrate ability to analyze and write reports as well as engage with external relevant stakeholder such as government, UN Agencies, NGOs and private sector .
Understand food security vulnerability and ability to link analysis to programme design and implementation in the context of WFP programmes and CSP.
DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE

Have minimum of 3 years working experience working in comparable and/or relevant position in the public service or private sector or an international organization.
Has worked with technical teams (i.e. nutrition, VAM, etc.).
Has contributed to implementation of programmes.
Has observed or assisted with policy discussions.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Duty Station: Petauke, Eastern Zambia
Duration: 12 months
