Job Description


Lubambe Copper Mine Limited (LCML) operates an underground copper mine located in Chililabombwe District in the Copperbelt Province of the Republic of Zambia. The company also has a mineral processing plant with a capacity to process up to 2.5 Mt per annum of copper ore and produces a high – grade copper concentrate.

EMR Capital, a specialist resource private equity firm, owns 80% of LCML, whilst ZCCM-IH owns 20% on behalf of the Zambian Government.

LCML seeks to employ an experienced and qualified individual in the following position:

PRODUCTION GEOLOGIST (x1)

This position reports to the Senior Production Geologist.

Core Purpose of the Position:

The Production Geologist is responsible for geological data acquisition through diamond drilling and production stoping.

Key Performance Areas/Indicators (KPA/Is):

  • Preparation of weekly, monthly, and quarterly diamond drilling plans.
  • Supervise underground diamond drilling.
  • Diamond drilling site inspections.
  • Detailed lithological, mineralogical logging of completed drill holes.
  • Drill core sampling.
  • Bulk density determination.
  • Sample dispatch to the laboratory.
  • Ensure QA – QC protocols are followed.
  • Sample dispatch to the laboratory.
  •  Acquire database management.
  • Importing of drill core assays into the acquire database.
  • Manage the daily production database.
  • Manage the daily, weekly and monthly production reports.

Academic Qualifications and Experience:

  •  Grade 12 Certificate.
  •  BSc Degree in Mineral Science (Geology) or equivalent.
  •  Member of a Geoscience professional body.
  • 2-4yrs experience in an underground mining operation.
  • Database management experience in acQuire and any other database format.
  •  Knowledge of underground diamond drilling techniques.
  • Robust excel analytical skills.
  • Practical experience in use of application software such as Datamine, Surpac, Vulcan, Micromine.
