Job Description


The Processing Data Team Lead will be responsible for processing daily stock dispatch in SAGE, monitor frozen stock in reefers, accountable for processing supplies and materials and coordinates with Health, Safety and Environment team to dispose damaged fish stock.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervises data clerks across processing
  • Ensures all data captured is correct and good quality
  • Responsible for ensuring quality & timely reporting of all data coming out of the processing plant; including: 1. Fresh Grading, Freezing, Further Processing in MYSQL, 2. Dispatch data, 3. Stock Data (book vs physicals of fresh & frozen), 4. Productivity, 5. Consumable data (including orders, usage, receipt, stock levels), Etc.
  • Aligning Sage with all the processing reports from harvest to dispatch.
  • Checks orders, bills, items received, inventory, and deliveries for accuracy.
  • Prepares any necessary documentation.
  • Communicates issues/plans across the team well.
  • Ensures basic maintenance standards and compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Performs daily inspection of the warehouse grounds.
  • Initiatives projects to improve data capture processes and reduce stock loss.
  • Manages software currently existing in processing, will be the subject matter expert.
  • Manages new projects of software implementation to formalize & improve quality of data coming out of processing plant. a) This includes speaking directly with developers, b) Coming up with project plans, c) Designing databases, etc
  • Problem solves server issues or other issues with D&A or ICT when they arise.
  • Builds tools (in Excel, PowerApps, Power BI, etc) to improve quality, transparency & insights from information coming out of processing plant.
  • Works closely with finance team to investigate & reduce stock losses

Key Performance Indicators (KPI)

  • Daily Monitoring of Facilities and Operations
  • Timeous production of Reconciliations – Fresh and frozen stocks; packaging material; crates and pallets; dispatched stock
  • Adherence to Food Handling Standards
  • Adherence to all quality and health and safety standards
  • Timeous dispatches of frozen stock to Commercial.
  • SOP’s at 100% Compliance

Knowledge 

  • Strong working knowledge of warehouse operations and management.
  • Knowledge of Inventory management systems
  • Working knowledge of SAGE

Skills

  • Database management
  • Data visualization skills (Power BI experience a plus)
  • Project Management Skills
  • Advanced Excel skills (model building)
  • Experience with server management a plus
  • Data digitisation experience a big plus
  • Decision making to execute company policies and plant procedures.
  • Comfortable with Office 365  (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Ability to function safely in a noisy environment
  • Problem-solving skills, creativity, and critical thinking skills
  • Time management skills and the ability to delegate.
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills

Minimum Qualification & Experience:

  • Grade 12 certificate.
  • Degree in Business, Economics, Computer Studies, Demography, Management Supervisor, Logistics, or another related field.
  • 2 years’ experience as data analyst /database manager / etc.
  • Operations experience.
