POSITION : PLANT ENGINEER

CONTRACT : PERMANENT
LOCATION : LUSAKA
REPORTS TO : BREWERY MANAGER (1ST LEVEL) / ENGINEERING MANAGER (2ND LEVEL)

Key Responsibilities

1. Asset & Engineering Management

• Lead and implement asset management and maintenance strategies
• Ensure integrity of manufacturing systems, instrumentation, and utilities
• Maintain calibration of all site equipment, including flow meters, gauges, and valves
• Drive compliance with engineering and operational standards

2. Safety, Health & Environment

• Ensure full compliance with safety, health, and environmental legislation
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and safe working practices
• Act as the accountable person for SHE across brewery operations and depots

3. Maintenance & Reliability

• Optimise planned maintenance systems and asset care programs
• Conduct failure analysis and implement corrective actions
• Ensure plant reliability exceeds 95% across brewing, packaging, and utilities

4. Project & Financial Management

• Manage small site engineering projects within budget and timelines
• Develop and control departmental budgets and costs
• Implement procurement procedures in line with company standards

5. People Management

• Lead, coach, and develop engineering teams
• Drive skills development (including PLC and asset care competencies)
• Foster a positive industrial relations environment

Key Performance Indicators

• Plant Reliability > 95%
• Maintenance Cost per HL < $0.80
• Utilities Cost < $0.50 per HL
• GMP/5S and safety audit scores > 80%
• Successful delivery of projects within cost and schedule

Education & Certification

• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Registered Engineer (required)
• Additional business qualification (advantage)

Experience

• 3–5 years in Brewing, Packaging, or Utilities Engineering
• Experience within FMCG environment (preferred)
• Knowledge of modern asset care and maintenance systems
