Forest Africa Zambia Ltd is a Zambian-based company dedicated to sustainable natural resource management and the commercialization of inclusive indigenous non-timber forest-based value chains. Forest Africa Zambia Ltd, with the support of SNV Zambia and Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), through the Innovations for Poverty (IAP) challenge fund program, is implementing a business scale up project focused on strengthening inclusive supply chain (focus on smallholder strengthening) , improved processing capacity and increased distribution to local and potential export market.

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the following positions to join our project team: Project Manager, MEL Specialist, Logistics Officer, and Project Accounts Officer.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Specialist

Job Title: MEL Specialist
Reports to: Project Manager
Duty Station: Chilanga with field travel

Purpose of the Role

To design, implement, and manage the project Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) system, ensuring accurate tracking of progress, outcomes, and impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and operationalize the project M&E framework, indicators, and tools.
  • Train project staff and community groups on M&E systems and reporting.
  • Monitor field activities including farmer onboarding, training, sourcing, and reforestation activities.
  • Collect, analyse, and document project data and lessons learned.
  • Prepare periodic progress, performance, and impact reports.
  • Support learning, adaptive management, and evidence-based decision making.
  • Coordinate project-wide reporting on milestones, outputs, and outcomes.
  • Support audit preparation through documentation and verification of results.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Economics, Development Studies or related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in MEL or developmental project implementation for donor-funded projects.
  • Strong data collection, analysis, and reporting skills.
  • Experience with community-based and agricultural projects is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, SPSS/STATA or similar tools.
