Job Description


MECHANICAL WORKSHOP SUPERVISOR – ZAMHATCH IN MPONGWE DISTRICT (1)

The Required Skills for this Role Include:

  • Supervising  the tasks in the mechanical workshop as issued by the Mechanical Workshop Forman.
  • Supervising, diagnosing, adjusting, repairing of vehicles.
  • Checking inspecting and verifying dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications and report deviations to the Mechanical Workshop Foreman.
  • Monitoring progress and inspecting completed work to ensure the required standards are achieved by the Mechanics.
  • Supervising breakdowns and emergencies, which is to be dealt with in efficient manner (24 hours call out).
  • Ensuring all log books, requisition books and departmental records are effectively maintained to enable stock control, ordering of parts and all other workshop functions operate efficiently.
  • Examining vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunctions.
  • Testing, driving vehicles and testing components and systems, using equipment such as infrared engine analyzers, compression gauges and computerized diagnostic devices.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of the workshop, tools and housekeeping in the workshop and surrounding areas associated to the workshop and areas where mechanical repairs are conducted.
  • Any other tasks as prescribed by the Mechanical Workshop  Foreman.

The Required Qualifications are:

  • Grade 12 School certificate or equivalent  with at least 5 credits.
  • Must have a minimum qualification of Heavy Equipment Repair certificate or   advanced certificate in Heavy Equipment Repair.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instructions, blueprints etc.
  • Qualified diesel Mechanic.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Minimum of  5 years’ experience working as  Mechanics.
  • Must have valid driver’ licence.

The Required Attributes Include:

  • A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines.
  • Good communication  and leadership skills
  • A problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent knowledge in repairing DAF trucks.
  • Excellent knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical and other systems and their components.
  • Aptitude in using various hand tools and precision measurement tools.
  • Very good physical strength and stamina.
