8. LECTURER – PUBLIC HEALTH NURSING
Job Purpose:
To deliver teaching, field supervision, and academic support in Public Health Nursing, with emphasis on community-based practice and preventive care in line with approved curricula and standards.
Key responsibilities:
Deliver teaching and learning in Public Health Nursing in accordance with approved curricula and academic standards.
Supervise and support students during community-based and public health practice placements to ensure attainment of required competencies.
Assess, examine, and provide academic guidance to students in public health nursing courses.
Contribute to the development, review, and improvement of Public Health Nursing curricula and community training approaches.
Participate in academic planning, outreach activities, and quality assurance processes related to Public Health Nursing.
Qualifications and Experience:
Grade 12 Certificate with five credits including English, Mathematics, and Science
BSc in Public Health Nursing or related discipline
MSc in Public Health Nursing or related disciplines
Minimum two (2) years teaching experience
NMCZ registration and ZAQA clearance
Key Attributes and Competences:
Demonstrated competence in Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing practice and teaching
Effective communication and presentation skills
High standards of professionalism, ethics, and integrity
Ability to mentor, guide, and support students academically and clinically
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary academic and clinical team
Good organisational and time management skills
Demonstrated involvement in research activities and/or contribution to scholarly publications will be an added advantage
