Job Description


1) Job Purpose

The job holder is a skilled and qualified practitioner whose role is pivotal to any organization with a workforce. They are responsible for managing every aspect of the Recruitment and placement of staff in all categories; To be part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) negotiations/ address improvements. Also responsible for handling all Senior Staff and Expatriate contracts and welfare.

2) Reporting Relationship

Direct Reporting Relationship: Human Resource and Admin Manager

3)  Responsibilities

a. Business Partner for Mining and Support Services.

b. Recruitment for all staff categories for MCL and MDT.

c. Create and maintain database of potential candidates for all critical positions in MCL.

d. Employee relations and grievance handling.

e. Provide direction and guidance on HR related issues to Department Heads.

f. Day to day interaction with the MUZ local leadership for guidance and sensitization in changes in MCL’s conditions of service, policies and procedures and other matters which affect the employment relationship.

g. Monitor and ensure MCL site contractor companies comply with Zambian labour legislation and MCL approved labour practices.

h. Control the quality of all information in relation to personnel records (electronic and hard copy).

i. Immigration management for expatriate employee.

j. Onboarding and Separation Process for expatriate and senior staff.

4) Professional Qualification, Experience and Skills

a) Qualifications

  • Grade 12 Certificates
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or related field from a reputable Institution. Master’s Degree an added advantage
  • Member of Zambian Institute of Human Resource Management or relevant professional body.

b) Experience

  • 10 years’ relevant experience in Human Resources Management, 5 years of which should have been at management level;
  • Experience in providing Human Resource advisory services and managing staff; and
  • Experienced user of software packages, including MS office (Word, Excel) and SAP.
