Field Manager – IPA Zambia

POSITION: Field Manager
DEADLINE: Applications reviewed on a rolling basis DURATION: 4 Months

About Innovations for Poverty Action: is a non-profit organization dedicated to discovering and promoting effective solutions to global poverty problems. In close partnership with decision makers — the policymakers, practitioners, investors, and donors working with the poor around the world — IPA designs and evaluates potential solutions to poverty problems using randomized evaluations, the most rigorous evaluation method available. We also mobilize and support these decision makers to use these solutions to build better programs and policies at scale.

Position Overview

The Field Manager will report directly to the research associate and the IPA management team. The Field Manager will be responsible for assisting the IPA Zambia Survey Project team.

Specific responsibilities include:

Assist the Research Associate in developing an action plan for data collection which includes logistics of survey implementation to ensure a timely and efficient data collection. This includes team composition and schedule; travel logistics; data-quality plan; and spot-check plan.
Hire, train, and manage the field teams that will conduct the data collection for all phases of the project.
Assist in testing and piloting survey instruments for data collection.
Supervise and monitor quality execution of field work and survey administration – ensure that all stipulated project deadlines are met.
Manage field logistics and adapting field plans to changing conditions as necessary.
Monitor the well-being of field equipment (office, laptops, phones, etc.).
Perform any other duties as assigned to you by supervisor and management.

Qualifications and Experience

Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and interacting well with respondents.
Proficiency in written and oral communication in the local languages in the four provinces mentioned above.

Previous experience with SurveyCTO is preferred
Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
Previous experience in conducting field surveys/Focus Group Discussions
Excellent interpersonal skills: Ability to respectfully engage people in public
Must have basic knowledge of how to use Microsoft office tools, especially Word and Excel.
He/she must be physically fit
Good listening and analytical skills.
Self-motivated and proactive.
Ability to work under minimum supervision
