Job Description

The Fashion and Design Trainer will be responsible for designing, delivering, and assessing vocational training programs in garment construction, measuring, and cutting.

This role bridges the gap between foundational theory and practical application, ensuring trainees acquire the technical competencies, practical skills, and safety awareness required to succeed in the fashion and garment manufacturing industry.


Key Responsibilities

Training and Instruction

  • Deliver comprehensive hands-on and classroom training in garment construction and machine handling.
  • Provide practical demonstrations and technical guidance to trainees.
  • Facilitate learning that meets industry standards and promotes employability.

Curriculum Development

  • Design lesson plans and practical assessments aligned with industry standards and local accreditation requirements, including TEVETA standards.
  • Develop training materials that support effective learning outcomes.

Evaluation and Mentorship

  • Monitor trainee progress through continuous assessments.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and structured feedback to support learner development.
  • Assess trainee competency and readiness for employment or entrepreneurship.

Safety Management

  • Enforce health and safety standards within the training workshop.
  • Ensure proper handling of tools, equipment, materials, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Equipment Maintenance

  • Ensure all workshop equipment and tools are properly maintained and in good working condition.
  • Report faults and coordinate repairs when necessary.

Partnership Development

  • Collaborate with industry partners and stakeholders to enhance internship and job placement opportunities for trainees.

Education and Experience

Primary & Secondary Schooling (K-12)
  • TEVETA Accreditation in Fashion and Design.
  • Minimum Diploma or Craft Certificate in Fashion and Design or a related field.
  • At least three (3) years of industry experience in Fashion and Design.
  • Previous teaching or training experience in a vocational institution will be an added advantage.
  • Strong practical skills in garment construction, measuring, and cutting.

Additional Information

Work Hours: 8 Hours per Day
Experience Required: 36 Months (3 Years)
Education Level: Diploma
