Estate Manager – 1st June 2023
This is a multi-faceted leadership role which runs and manages the entire Baobab Estate and all estate staff. The area includes multiple buildings (old and new) as well as extensive sports grounds, boarding facilities, a small agricultural farm, a work shop and stores as well as a basic camp site. The Estate Manager also engages with the Senior Leadership of the school and the Development Committee of the school’s Board of Governors in strategic estates development work at the school. The Estate Manager is line managed by the Business Manager and plays an integral part of the Business Administration Team of the school.
Minimum qualifications: Tertiary qualification in Estates Management/Operations or other suitable credentials.
Minimum experience: Not suitable for a candidate who has just qualified and is new to the industry. This role would suit a more experienced manager with at least 5 years of managing large estates.
The following criteria will be of advantage to candidates:
- Experience of managing a large number of staff and knowledge of Zambian labour law
- Good administrative skills and abilities
- Working in a service industry
- Working with large budgets
- Procurement processes and stores management
- Knowledge and experience of construction and maintenance (building, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and gardening)
- Fit and energetic with a love of the outdoors
- Strong command of English and excellent writing skills
- High level of computer literacy
- Ability to work as a team member
