Neelkanth Fresh Foods Limited, a part of VAMARA Group-Zambia, is looking for an outstanding resource for the position below:

1.     EHS Officer

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead EHS Regulatory Compliance
  • Assess and Mitigate Risks
  • Review EHS data and trends to develop clear action plans to manage short term and long term EHS risk.
  • Design and Implement Annual EHS Plan – In collaboration with the site leadership team, create, implement, monitor, and update the site EHS plan.
  • Provide technical support related to permits, authorizations, capital projects, and other EHS compliance concerns
  • Provide educational training and facilitate communication activities to build management and employee understanding and commitment to EHS compliance with emphasis on EHS management and statutory regulations, requirements under Kohler Safety and Environment Management systems as well as new associate orientation.
  • Monitor, Analyze and Share EHS Information.
  • Promote a Sustainable EHS Culture – Create and maintain an EHS culture throughout the site that inspires a proactive attitude and a firm belief that target zero is achievable.
  • Provide Expertise, Guidance, Coaching and Training.
  • Lead Continuous EHS Improvement.
  • As fire safety responsible, assumes all responsibilities of a fire safety officer including technical oversight and support, emergency action planning and related training, inspection and maintenance of related fire systems and building conditions.
  • Manage Relations with Regulatory Agencies, the Local Community – Develop trusted and proactive relationships with regulatory agencies, local community and external suppliers to promote compliance and social responsibility, in Co’s business interest.
  • Develop and maintain a detailed familiarity with all stakeholders at plant and establish a positive working relationship with the plant management teams.
  • Conduct regular EHS compliance audits and inspections of buildings, operations and related EHS/Fire equipment.
  • Facilitates effective safety committees for each site supported.

Conduct all EHS incident investigation to assure corrective measures are completed on time and assist them with identification and addressing the root cause of the incident

  • Excellent planning, organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work on your own initiative.
  • Ability to work in and adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to work co-cooperatively with others to complete tasks and implement process improvements.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Diploma or Degree in a related field
