POSITION: Assistant Network Administrator

DEPARTMENT & LOCATION:Network Administration Section, Lusaka

JOB SUMMARY

Assist Network Administrator in supporting server applications and operating systems, and in the area of designing, organizing, installing, and supporting IT systems for the company and its affiliates. Should be able to design and install LANs, WANs, Internet and intranet systems, and network segments.

Under the supervision of superiors, the Assistant Network Administrator provides first-level technical and help desk support to end-users in resolving software, hardware, and network-related problems. She/he will monitor and respond in a very timely manner to requests for technical assistance received from end-users. A very high level of customer service, both to internal and external customers, is expected.

This person must uphold the ICT best practices so that the company maintains an acceptable IT service quality making the operations of the company thrive in all departments.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Proven knowledge of IT hardware and Software products.
  • Setting up remote access for users.
  • Provide end-user support on IT hardware and Equipment.
  • Promptly respond to customer help-desk requests issues and enter a daily log of issues and tasks associated with daily work performed.
  • Manage multiple IT projects, activities and tasks simultaneously.
  • Keeping an inventory of software licenses, software applications, hardware components, IT Devices and equipment
  • Coordinate with your superiors to set user access, permissions and roles to prevent unauthorized access
  • Assist in equipment set-up and software installation and updates
  • Generate email and network accounts for new users
  • Network Support – Attending to all problems that end users of RPS and its subsidiaries.
  • Supports server, network and desktop hardware, software and applications.
  • Configure computers for new users
  • Roll out hardware and software to ensure optimal deployment of resources.
  • Support the network and computing infrastructure.
  • Assist with technology planning in collaboration with the Network Administrator
  • Maintenance of desktop hardware infrastructure (Printers, CPUs).
  • Assist in designing and implementing of system upgrades and expansion
  • Troubleshoot all hardware end-user problems and provide support.
  • Backing up all software programs, router, and server configurations.
  • Check that all servers are up and running.
  • Any other IT tasks as will be determined with your superiors based on the changing needs of the RPS Group

Preferred Professional Qualifications

  • Holder of at least a Diploma in Information Technology or Computer Science.
  • Any Other Appropriate Qualification, such as CISCO CCNA Certification, ICT Security, Programming skills, or their equivalent will be added advantage
  • Must have the knowledge and hands-on experience on Network Performance Change, LAN Knowledge, Network Design and Implementation, Trouble Shooting, Multi-tasking, Quality Focus, Technical Understanding, Quick Study, and Technical Zeal
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of current communications devices and protocols, server and desktop technologies

Knowledge/Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year experience.

  • Ability to work across the organization in all business segments, identify and drive continuous process change and improvement
