Job Description


Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly committed employee for the position of Air Conditioning Technician to join the versatile Maintenance team.

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor – Shovels, you will be responsible for the day-to-day activities of all Air Conditioning tasks associated with the specific outlines in the duties and ensuring these are completed in a timely manner.  Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Carryout Preventive maintenance on all Aircon systems for the PC1250, PC2000, PC3000, PC7000 and PC8000 Shovels.
  • Diagnose, service and repair faults.
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring problems and re-gassing.
  • Clean, test components and conduct regular servicing of equipment.
  • Plan, schedule and monitor work of support personnel to assist immediate supervisor.
  • Ensure hazardous substances are disposed of appropriately and Health Safety and Environment (HSE) requirements are met.
  • Maintain a professional work ethic through effective, honest communication with supervisors, peers, and operations personnel always.
  • Carry out routine and statutory inspections.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improving of maintenance processes and systems.
  • Actively promote full cooperation between the maintenance and mining operation.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Full Grade Twelve School Certificate
  • Craft Certificate in refrigeration and Air Conditioning / Basic Certificate in Electrical.
  • Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambian
  • Minimum two (3) years mining experience in large multi pit operations utilizing large scale mining equipment such as Komatsu PC1250, PC2000, PC3000, PC7000 and PC8000 Shovels.
  • Able to read, understand and interpret all electrical schematic drawings.
  • Ability to apply appropriate methodical faulty finding and diagnostic techniques to different equipment and controls systems that includes electronics and electric systems.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.
  • Must have good communication skills in the English language.
  • Must be familiar with safe working practices.
