Job Description
At Yalelo, we aim to be the world’s lowest-cost producer of protein, availing healthy, lean meat to all populations.
Yalelo seeks to hire an experienced and eager Processing Manager to manage the strategic and day to day operations of the Process plant and provide leadership to the processing teams in fish grading, processing, packaging and distribution preparation. You will be responsible for managing a team of over 130 employees in various roles. You also be a key member of the Production Leadership team.
This position is open to Zambians for full-time contract hire
Location. The role is based in Siavonga, with occasional trips to Lusaka..
The Right – Fit Candidate Will be:
OVERSIGHT OF PROCESSING PLANT
- Setting and delivering on production and maintenance targets
- Planning and organizing production schedules
- Liaising with commercial operations on demand and supply of processed product specifications
- Work cohesively with site leadership team to deliver sites’ balanced business plan achieve productivity improvements
- Develop and implement process solutions to improve operational efficiency.
- Develop process workflow and design in compliance with regulatory requirements.
BUDGETTING AND RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
- Assessing project and resource requirements
- Estimating, negotiating and agreeing budgets and timescales
- Ensure accurate selection, ordering and purchasing of required materials
- To monitor incoming raw material, production and dispatch to ensure the highest manufacturing standards are maintained
HEALTH & FOOD SAFETY
- Determining quality control standards
- Ensuring that health and safety regulations are met
- Ensure Quality and Hygiene Standards are maintained.
- Management of customer and certification audits.
- Ensuring health, safety and environmental compliance and improvement
RUN PROCESS IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS
- Implement test programs to resolve hardware and major set-up issues in mass production
- Monitor and measure the benefits of post process implementation to ensure product quality, efficiency, and improvement.
- Implement new and/or modified production processes for regulatory approval, commissioning and operation
- Organizing the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement through innovation, training, and development
- Manage the process of problem solving, root cause analysis and corrective action implementation within the business.
- Has final sign off on any changes to SOP and documents within the Quality System
LEADESHIP & PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
- Provide leadership for relevant technical and operational teams
- Supervising the work of junior staff
- organizing relevant training sessions
- Oversee Ice Plant activities
- Develop Ideal, Efficient and Effective mechanisms for packaging Yalelo Fish
- Manages Warehousing
- Implore Continuous Improvement and Implement Ideologies to get the job done
Safety and Regulatory Compliance of the processing plant
- Ensure Health and Safety Compliance of all employees in the Plant
- Ensure Adherence to food safety
- Ensure adherence to Yalelo Procedures, Processes, Policies and Quality standards
- To Direct and coordinate activities of employees engaged in fish Processing
Processing Manager Requirements are:
- BSc. Degree or higher in Production Managements, Operations management or any related field
- Master’s degree preferred
- 3 years + of Progressive Management Experience in an FMCG/ Food production role
- Experience in Food Packaging is an added advantage
- Experience in FMCG industry, leadership, HACCP, extensive production management and project management.
- Sufficient hands-on experience aqua culture or related industries
