SCHOOL OF NURSING AND MIDWIFERY SCIENCES

Levy Mwanawasa Medical University (LMMU) invites applications from suitably qualified, motivated, and experienced professionals to fill the following academic and clinical positions in the School of Nursing and Midwifery Sciences. All positions are on a full-time basis.


3. LECTURER – OPHTHALMIC NURSING

Job Purpose:
To provide teaching, clinical instruction, and supervision in Ophthalmic Nursing, and to support the development of students’ clinical competencies and professional practice in line with approved curricula and standards.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Deliver teaching and learning in Ophthalmic Nursing in accordance with approved curricula and academic standards.

  2. Supervise and support students during ophthalmic clinical placements to ensure attainment of required competencies.

  3. Develop, administer, and mark assessments and examinations in line with University and regulatory requirements.

  4. Participate in academic and professional activities, including curriculum development, meetings, and quality assurance processes.

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Grade 12 Certificate with five credits including English, Mathematics, and Science.

  2. BSc in Nursing or related discipline.

  3. MSc in Ophthalmic Nursing.

  4. Minimum two (2) years teaching experience.

  5. NMCZ registration and ZAQA clearance.

  1. Demonstrated competence in Ophthalmic nursing practice and teaching.

  2. Effective communication and presentation skills.

  3. High standards of professionalism, ethics, and integrity.

  4. Ability to mentor, guide, and support students academically and clinically.

  5. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary academic and clinical team.

  6. Good organisational and time management skills.

  7. Demonstrated involvement in research activities and/or contribution to scholarly publications will be an added advantage.
