Mabiza Resources Limited (“Mabiza”) operates the Munali Nickel Mine (“Munali”), which is located in the Mazabuka District, 80kms south of Lusaka, Zambia. Mabiza is a wholly owned entity of Consolidated Nickel Mines Ltd.

The Mine is a modern, world-class facility with fully mechanized underground operations. To support this vision. Mabiza is seeking the services of an experienced and qualified individuals to take up the positions of:

Role: Auto Electrician X 1

Reporting: Foreman

Job Purpose: To carry out workshop support services to the MRL site fleet. This will be done in such a manner so as to achieve cost savings, continuous improvement initiatives, and utilization of synergies throughout the area.

Responsibilities: –

  • Assisting in implementing the safety systems and procedures required by the Zambian mines regulations.
  • Contributing to the identification of the significant Health and safety risks and impacts related to heavy maintenance workshops including those related to identified applicable legislation
  • Ensuring that apprentices have the necessary competencies, awareness and training to effectively manage the health and safety risks in their areas.
  • Ensuring that incidents related to health, safety or the environment are reported and assist in investigations to identify any additional controls required.
  • Carry out weekly plans; provide coaching and mentoring to apprentices as required
  • Provide input to weekly plans to ensure that they are realistic and achievable.
  • Ensure that all relevant documentation for planned maintenance and breakdowns are completed and submitted to the Workshop Foreman in a timely and accurate manner (Work Orders).
  • Provide input, as requested, to the forward planning schedule.
  • Maintain equipment such as Front-End Loaders, TLB’s, Bobcats, Forklifts, Dozers, Graders, etc.
  • Read & interpret electrical diagrams & circuits for Mobile Equipment manuals
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and initiative when confronted with challenges, the determination to overcome and outside the box solutions while on the job. Providing support to peers and encouraging “spot awards”. Recognition of good work.
  • Provide input into continuous improvement through root cause analysis and liaison with operations personnel including operators/drivers.
  • Provide input from the workshop floor on processes and support to the Earth-moving workshop Foreman.
  • Provide cross knowledge to peers and mentoring towards apprentices including individual training and development.
  • Ensure that trainees have clear directions of daily work and targets.
  • Actively participate in all sectional safety, toolbox, pre-shift and consultative technical meetings. Able to communicate freely with peers, up and down lines.

Skills & Qualifications: –

  • Grade 12 certificate, minimum credit in Mathematics, Science and English
  • Minimum Crafts/Advanced Technician’s certificate in Power Electrical
  • Minimum of 05 years of hands-on experience in a maintenance role.
  • Experience in a mining or high output environment with heavy mobile equipment/drill rigs workshops.
  • Able to work with electronic diagnostic equipment
  • Hands-on skills and experience with high-voltage equipment.
  • Digital literacy
  • Able to overhaul, electrical motors and other components
  • Sound planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
