Founded in 2006, One Acre Fund supplies 1 million smallholder farmers with the agricultural services they need to make their farms vastly more productive. Our 8,000+ team is drawn from diverse backgrounds and professions. With operations across six core countries in Africa, we make farmers more prosperous by providing quality farm supplies on credit, delivered within walking distance of farmers’ homes, and agricultural training to improve harvests. On average, our farmers harvest 50 per cent more food after working with One Acre Fund.

About the Young Professionals Program
One Acre Fund’s Young Professionals Program offers high-performing African graduates meaningful internships and training opportunities at a high-performing, mission-driven organization. Our internships are paid and all interns can expect to receive substantive work assignments working on high-impact projects that support One Acre Fund’s operations.

When joining, interns will participate in an onboarding program and receive training on how to design and execute projects. Over the period of your internship, you will get the opportunity to work with like-minded individuals and receive learning opportunities to build strong foundations for your future career.

About the Role

This opportunity is ideal for recent graduates interested in gaining and developing their skills in the areas of agroforestry, government relations, and logistics operations. We are looking for three interns who will be based in Kabwe with

Responsibilities

Zambia Operations Intern

Provide data analysis support to Business Operations by analyzing farmer behaviour regarding ordering, repayment, input collection, and other relevant metrics.
Support the design and creation of data collection tools and processes to minimize data entry errors throughout the entire data flow process.
Collaborate with the logistics lead to develop and implement data and input movement controls and processes, ensuring compliance with standards and optimizing efficiency.
Coordinate input distribution activities, including scheduling, documentation preparation and circulation, transporter management, warehouse reconciliation, and supporting disciplinary actions in collaboration with HR and BizOps.
Zambia Agroforestry Intern

Create production planning documents, including project plans, work breakdown sheets, risk registers, and postmortems, to ensure efficient and organized execution of projects.
Design and deliver training programs on seedling production and agroforestry best practices to nursery managers and clients, promoting knowledge and skill development throughout the season.
Track and monitor the performance of nurseries by identifying and measuring key metrics through field assistants, ensuring targets are met and addressing any challenges that arise.
Research and implement trials by collaborating with external experts and OAF countries to gather insights into nursery management best practices, adapting and transferring these practices to decentralized nurseries for improved execution of the seedlings program.
Government Relations and Policy Intern

Conduct research on relevant policy issues, review and summarise materials, and identify key concerns.
Prepare correspondence for review, including briefing notes, reports, and memos.
Assist in analyzing legislative proposals and policy initiatives, providing insights and recommendations to the team.
Support the development of materials aimed at political figures, corporate partners, and network members.
Assist in creating marketing and advocacy materials to advance the organization’s broader advocacy goals.

Benefits
Interns will be provided with a reasonable stipend for the duration of their contract. Rural area-based fellows will be provided assistance in locating suitable housing.
