Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Translator to support our fieldwork in Central Province. The Translator will be responsible for facilitating communication between team members and local communities by providing accurate and detailed translations. The role involves translating conversations from English, Nyanja, and Lenje.

What you will be doing:
Provide word-by-word translations to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the content.
Language Translation: Accurately translate spoken conversations between English, Nyanja, Lenje or other local languages in the Central Province.
Act as a word-by-word translator during meetings, interviews, and interactions with local community members, ensuring clear communication and understanding.
Collaborate with fieldwork teams to assist in data collection and interviews, and other project-related activities.
Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and awareness when translating to ensure effective communication and respect for local customs.
Innovation through Human-centered design.
Be part of the design team supporting in research, prototyping and testing
Join the analysis and synthesis session after the fieldwork in Country or other provinces
Requirements
The type of experience that we are looking for:
Proficiency in English, Nyanja, and Lenje languages.
Strong oral and written communication skills in all required languages.
Previous experience as a translator or interpreter in a similar role is preferred.
Cultural sensitivity and understanding of local customs and traditions.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic fieldwork environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to providing accurate translations.
