Lubambe Copper Mine Limited (LCML) operates an underground copper mine located in Chililabombwe District in the Copperbelt Province of the Republic of Zambia. The company also has a mineral processing plant with a capacity to process up to 2.5 Mt per annum of copper ore and produces a high – grade copper concentrate.

EMR Capital, a specialist resource private equity firm, owns 80% of LCML, whilst ZCCM-IH owns 20% on behalf of the Zambian Government.

LCML seeks to employ an experienced and qualified individual in the following position:

TRAINING OFFICER (x1)

This position reports to the Learning & Development Superintendent.

Core Purpose of the Position:

Deliver and facilitate structured safety and regulatory training, development programs and initiatives in support of the company’s safety, health, and environmental standard procedures.

Key Performance Areas/Indicators (KPA/Is):

  • Deliver and facilitate assessment and training in Light, Medium and Heavy Vehicles including Utilities (UV runners, Normet, Manitou, forklift and Landcruiser’s) that encourages accelerated learning and results in new knowledge and skills being applied into the workplace.
  • Deliver 4×4 and defensive driving training and assessment.
  • Work as part of the assessing team and give feedback and offer ideas and suggestions for improving light vehicle operator performance.
  • Schedule and communicate upcoming training and renewals for drivers on site.
  • Train all employees on company safety policies and procedures, including new hires and regular refreshers for existing employees.
  • Prepare training material such as lesson plans, handouts, and slide presentations.
  • Conducting training sessions on topics such as fire safety, accident prevention, and emergency response procedures.
  • Interpreting occupational health and safety standards and implementing policies to ensure compliance.
  • Conducting research on safety topics and developing educational materials based on findings.
  • Evaluating employee performance to ensure that they are complying with safety rules and standards.
  • Conducting investigations into employee accidents or near misses to determine causes and prevent future incidents from occurring.
  • Report and document all training paperwork pertaining to management systems for capturing and storing training data.
  • Plan and create training schedules for upcoming safety, health, and environmental training.

Academic Qualifications and Experience:

  • Grade Twelve (12) Certificate.
  • Minimum of certificate in training.
  • In depth knowledge of mining regulations.
  • In depth knowledge of Highway code and Zambian Driving Regulations.
  • Possess heavy mobile equipment skills & Knowledge.
  • Possess and maintain a clean and valid driver’s license (Class C1 or C).
  • In depth knowledge of Explosive Regulations.
  • Knowledge of basic Computers (Microsoft Office package, Internet, and Email services etc.)
