POSITION FOR TRADE FACILITATION EXPERT

ESAMI seeks to recruit a Trade Facilitation Expert. Reporting to the Head of Centre, the position will be based in at the ESAMI-Trade Policy Training Centre in Africa (ESAMI-trapca). The primary roles of this position are to coordinate the trade facilitation programming activities of the Centre effectively and efficiently. This will include design and development of capacity building programmes that enhance the competencies and efficiencies of key institutional agencies in facilitating trade within LDCs and Middle-income countries. The Expert will conceptualise, design, and develop programmes and targeted interventions that address emerging challenges and opportunities arising from the trade outcomes at the multilateral, continental, regional and bilateral levels.

The functions of the position will therefore be to:

  1. Coordinate and support capacity building activities and provide required technical support for the implementation of programmes and projects funded by Partners in trade facilitation
  2. Conceptualize, design, and develop curriculum on trade facilitation in line with the needs of the target stakeholders
  3. Manage applicant selections, results and generation of transcripts
  4. Undertake research in trade related issues
  5. Execute trade programme management and facilitate the teaching of programmes on trade to relevant stakeholders
  6. Be the focal point on trade facilitation issues to stakeholders and liaise with national trade facilitation bodies to ensure effective identification of capacity needs and dissemination of relevant policy information to target stakeholders
  7. Prepare relevant reports on the programming activities of the Centre, and
  8. Advise management and staff on trade facilitation strategy and long-term interventions and liaise with other trapca staff to leverage on teamwork and optimize resources.

The duty station will be ESAMI-trapca, at ESAMI headquarters, ARUSHA. The Position will be contractual, and renewal based on performance..

Qualifications:

A Masters Degree in Trade Policy, Trade Law, Trade Facilitation or Masters Degree in any Social Science Field with strong content on Trade Policy/Facilitation issues.
