Job Purpose

The Technical Lead will report to the Service Delivery Manager. The holder of this role will be responsible for overseeing and directing the day-to-day activities of the organization’s information technology (IT) department and ensuring that systems, services, and infrastructure work reliably and securely. As a Technical Lead, he/she will be required to analyse the different partner’s/client’s needs and environment and recommend a fit solution in line with their requirements. The role holder will be expected to lead the business requirements gathering and technical requirements mapping as well as liaise directly with the various development teams in the Company to ensure that the solutions are delivered according to requirements and within set timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the Projects team by translating Business initiatives into Technical Solutions
  • Business requirement Gathering and solution development
  • Solution architecture Development and Transaction process flows
  • Review current systems/transactions journeys for possible improvement
  • Understanding all relevant Integration interfaces
  • Provision Storage for Digital Shared Services;
  • Support Digital Shared Services on Storage requirements and backup services
  • Server Decommissions: ensure that all server storage is cleaned up and reclaimed after a server has been decommissioned or migrated.
  • Maintain backups for all systems
  • Implement cloud technologies and monitor their performance
  • Virtual machines provisioning
  • Software and patch updates
  • Support decommissioning efforts
  • Cloud migration skills
  • Development of Cloud Data warehouse
  • Implement security for all network nodes
  • Monitor the operations of network links
  • Optimize Network services
  • Configuration of VPN network for secure integrations
  • Handle support calls and advise clients (internal Business) in customer friendly manner.
  • Act as an escalation point on all system issues affecting customer services
  • Report on all matters affecting service quality
  • Maintain an up-to-date schedule of the equipment in the Business
  • Maintain data on Digital Shared Services Equipment at the Data Centers
  • Perform essential daily and weekly system health checks to ascertain system uptime;
  • Ensure compliance with privacy and security standards at all times.
  • Monitor the operations of servers, storage and other client nodes in order to ensure a high service uptime as per SLA metrics;
  • Update the incident management system with appropriate information whenever any incident occurs;
  • Resolve any relevant incidents with SLA
  • Review all UAT systems for vulnerabilities before Go Live Data
  • Coordinate with Risk and Compliance team for regulatory duties
  • Oversee all audit activities
  • Provide periodical reports for all technical operations

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • University degree in Information Technology related field or relevant subject from a reputable university
  • Grade 12 Credit or above mandatory in Mathematics and English and any other three subjects.
  • Broad IT knowledge, including Windows and Linux environments, server administration, SQL database, networks, monitoring tools, IT security, API/Integrations and cloud computing
  • Ability to be proactive, self-motivated and learn quickly
  • Exceptional analytical, verbal- and written- communication skills
  • attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills and a customer-focused demeanour
  • At least Five (5) years of working experience in IT

The role requires an individual with a deep commitment to the opportunity in the long term. Other required knowledge, skills and competencies include:

  • Good knowledge of Virtualisation
  • Good knowledge of Payment systems with Banking, FINTECH or MNO Experience
  • Good knowledge of Storage Administration
  • Good Knowledge of Development activities (Understanding Web, USSD and Mobile application Frameworks)
  • Has extensive technical knowledge in data centre operations
  • Enhances his/her technical knowledge through continuous learning
  • Strength in network inspections and cable management
  • Solves non-routine problems by independently applying judgment to established analysis and standard approaches.
