Job Description
Overview
One of our clients, an International Bank is looking for a Team Member to join their Enterprise Platforms & Database Management department.
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee Backup and Recovery of all Databases in the Bank according to the backup and recovery policy of the IT policy of the bank
- Oversee Database Capacity Management by generating daily database growth report for Management and Planning for future storage requirements for the databases
- Creating physical database storage structures for off the shelf applications
- Creating database structure in conformity with the request of the developer for the In House developed applications
- Maintain database integrity and availability at all time
- Proactively Ensure Database Availability by verifying that all database instances are up and running while looking out for any error log in database Alert log Files
- Adhere to database contingency plans by verifying the success of Database backups
- Monitor and optimize the performance of databases
- Day to day database management by adjusting next extent size of rapidly growing tables and indexes, etc.

- Administer database management software and related utilities
- Determine and set critical thresholds for disk, table spaces, extents, and fragmentation
- Install, configure and upgrade Oracle server software and related products
- Monitor and advise management on licensing issues while ensuring compliance with Oracle License agreements
- Monitor and coordinate update of the database recoverability plan with site’s disaster recovery plan
- Perform modifications of database structures from information provided by application developers
- Documentation of Database updates, Scripts, patches and releases.
- Assist developers in script writing and script performance optimization especially in development of Interface with Flexcube
Required knowledge, skills and abilities
- Knowledge and understanding of the Flexcube Banking Database System
- Database design and implementation using Oracle platform
- Knowledge of Financial services delivery channels
- Excellent customer relationship development/management
- Software design and development skills
- Good negotiation, problem-solving and conflict resolution
- Knowledge and understanding of Information Technology
- Good product development and management capabilities
Key Performance Indicators
- Contribution to formulation of IT Policy and Strategic Plan in area of Database Administration
- Implementation of the Bank’s database framework group wide
- Implement strategies for staff development
- Ensure Data integrity to prevent fraud
- Database support of IT Infrastructure in any country of the Bank’s operation
- Adhere to cost reduction initiatives and prevent income leakages
- Maintain 5% unplanned downtime for databases and applications
- Drive implementation of Service Level Agreement (SLA) between the bank and Oracle Inc.
- Implement an online replication/backup site in line with best practices and ensure proper upkeep of the site
- Management of the Data Center in line with world best practices
- Preparation and rendition of applicable reports e.g. monthly capacity reports, incident reports etc
Professional Requirements
Qualifications:
- University Degree in Computer Sciences/Engineering including Advanced (Degree or Professional Qualifications)
Minimum Experience:
- 7 Years demonstrated in a senior technical role with enterprise database managerial experience and project management skills
