Job Description


JOB SUMMARY
The Teacher Aide will assist the nursery class teacher in providing a safe, stimulating, and supportive environment for young children. The aide will support daily classroom activities, ensure the children’s well-being, and foster their social, emotional, and intellectual development.

Key Responsibilities:

Classroom Support:

  • Assist the teacher in preparing and organizing learning materials and resources.
  • Help set up and clean-up activities, ensuring the classroom is orderly and safe.
  • Supervise children during playtime, meals, and rest periods.

Childcare Duties:

  • Support children in personal care activities, including toileting, handwashing, and dressing.
  • Monitor and ensure children’s safety and well-being at all times.

Teaching Support:

  • Assist in conducting group activities, such as storytelling, arts and crafts, and music sessions.
  • Work one-on-one with children needing additional support.

Behavior Management:

  • Promote positive behavior by reinforcing good manners, sharing, and cooperation.
  • Help resolve minor conflicts among children calmly and effectively.

Communication:

  • Maintain open communication with the teacher regarding children’s progress and any observed concerns.
  • Provide feedback on classroom activities and suggest improvements where necessary.

Other Duties:

  • Accompany children on field trips or outdoor activities.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the teacher or school administration.
    Qualifications and Skills:

Educational Requirements

  • Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Diploma in Early Childhood Education. A degree in early childhood will be an added advantage.
  • Experience:
    At least 3 years of experience working with young children in a nursery or similar setting (preferred).

Skills:

  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with children.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
  • Creativity to engage children in fun and educational activities.
  • Basic knowledge of first aid (preferred).

Other Requirements:

  • A clean background check.
  • Ability to handle a class will be an added advantage.
