Job Purpose
The Surveyor will take charge of estimating property boundaries and measures land features for construction projects, map-making, mining, and legal purposes. Conduct surveys on land sites and properties, trace property lines, create mapping, and survey land. The Surveyor will be a trusted advisor to high-profile clients and to deliver customer excellence, operating in the professional, friendly, and authoritative manner. Design and provide pre-construction information as well as delivering an inspection and testing programme. Providing technical support to clients and supporting the in-house operational team with planned and reactive maintenance.

 

 

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Instruct and train subordinates on proper land surveying processes, techniques, and products
  • Maintain records of surveys and maps
  • Communicate with public and government officials
  • Promote safety in the workplace
  • Examine previous records and evidence to ensure data accuracy
  • Research and design methods for survey processes
  • Use equipment and tools to accurately measure land features (e.g. longitudes, latitudes)
  • Report on survey results and present findings to the Project Manager
  • Collaborate with engineers and architects on several projects
  • Direct field survey crews, conduct field mapping and field inspections, and prepare plot plans and subdivision plats
  • Prepare field boundaries for survey instruments
  • Perform boundary, topographic, and aerial surveys
  • Prepare diagrams and other drawings based on field observations
  • Prepare calculations, specifications, and cost estimates
  • Assist with proposal preparation
  • Work with the Electrical Engineer to perform land surveys from blueprints, sketches, or written descriptions
  • Prepare survey stakes, survey control, survey plans, and survey maps
  • Prepare the topographic or aerial survey and map
  • Prepare boundary surveys, boundary descriptions, and plats,
  • Perform land surveying reports and site plans

Primary Areas of Accountability:

Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Surveying or a related field
  • Minimum 5-7 years’ post experience in Surveying
  • Having worked for Power/Electrical Distribution Company in the same Capacity will be a plus
  • Experience with boundary surveys
  • Work experience using GPS equipment
  • Knowledge of construction staking and surveying principles
  • Experience with boundary fence layouts
  • Must have vast working knowledge of GPS and GIS
  • Must be Tech savvy, including familiarity with CAD software
  • Must be a member of a relevant professional body
