Description:
The USAID Zambia Accessible Markets for Health (ZAM-Health) Activity is a five-year project to expand the availability and accessibility of high-quality health products and services in the private sector, improve health knowledge, and increase the adoption of healthy and health-seeking behaviors. The program employs private sector approaches such as marketing, social franchising, and partnerships with for-profit entities to achieve these outcomes. USAID ZAM-Health is implemented by John Snow Health Zambia (JSH) in partnership with JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (JSI) and PharmAccess. The consortium applies a market facilitation approach to coordinate, catalyze, and harness the private sector to reach priority populations with health products, services and information.
JSI is seeking a keen and dedicated Strategic Information Advisor for the ZAM-Health Copperbelt regional office. The Strategic Information Advisor will collaborate with the existing Copperbelt Strategic Information Advisor, SI Specialist; Senior Strategic Information Advisor, Digital Health Systems Manager, and Communications Advisor based at HQ Lusaka office to implement a capacity-building plan aimed at enhancing and maintaining high standards of data quality at project-supported sites across the Copperbelt region.
Responsibilities:
- Regularly conduct strategic information capacity assessments to identify the training needs of strategic information staff in project-supported sites within the Copperbelt region;
- Provide evidence-based training and mentorship for strategic information staff in project-supported sites across the Copperbelt region;
- Facilitate and oversee the utilization of SmartCare in project-supported sites, including the generation of SmartCare reports;
- Assist in resolving problems related to SmartCare and provide SmartCare coaching and mentoring as required by project-supported sites in the Copperbelt region;
- Collaborate with the Provincial and District Health Information staff to ensure data that goes into DHIS2 and SmartCare are harmonized;
- Support data management, data utilization and reporting in the private sector facilities and pharmacies on the Central and Copperbelt;
- Develop and submit periodic progress reports by respective project area, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations to various audiences, including project team, partners, and other key stakeholders;
- Participate and contribute to the write up of quarterly reports, annual work plan and other reports as well as participate in various internal and external meeting;
- Support efforts to promote Collaborative, Learning, and Adaptation (CLA) Activities;
- Be an active member of the Strategic Information team led by the Strategic Information Senior Advisor;
- Implement JSI’s Accountability Framework and Code of Conduct, and adhere to JSI’s policies on fraud management; and
- Any other responsibilities, as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required in Development Studies, Demography, Statistics, Public Health, Computer Science or related fields of study;
- 2+ years of experience generating, analyzing, interpreting and presenting data;
- Demonstrated work experience in data management—including advanced knowledge of SmartCare and/or other digital health systems— and management information systems. Knowledge of newer versions of SmartCare (SmartCare Plus and SmartCare Pro) is a must;
- Demonstrated work experience conducting SmartCare utilization trainings, mentorship and/or coaching;
- Demonstrated work experience with PEPFAR-funded projects, preferably HIV-related projects;
- Previous experience with USG reporting requirements and procedures;
- Strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize, solve problems creatively, and work under tight deadlines;
- Ability to work well independently and in a team-based environment with local and remote team members;
- Previous experience working with private sector stakeholders in Zambia is a bonus;
- Experience in using data visualization software is preferred;
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and strong interpersonal skills are essential;
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills in English required; and
- Ability and willingness to travel within Zambia required.
