Job Description
Lubambe Copper Mine Limited (LCML) operates an underground copper mine located in Chililabombwe District in the Copperbelt Province of the Republic of Zambia. The company also has a mineral processing plant with a capacity to process up to 2.5 Mt per annum of copper ore and produces a high – grade copper concentrate.

LCML seeks to employ experienced and qualified individuals in the following position:
SHIFT SUPPORT MINING ENGINEER (x3)
This position reports to the Mine Superintendent.
Core Purpose of the Position:
This role is required to provide technical support to the underground mining frontline supervisors, ensure technical plans issued by the LCML Mining Engineering Department are adhered to and drive alignment of work quality with the LCML operational standards.
Key Performance Areas/Indicators (KPA/Is):
- Ensure compliance to issued mining instructions, for production drilling and charging.
- Ensure compliance to issued mining instructions for mine development and ground support activities.
- At end of shift, report progress on mining contractor’s performance to the Mine Superintendents.
- Reading and interpreting technical mining instructions (drilling plans, stope preparation plans, charging plans, survey memos).
- Reviewing the work as its being performed to ensure compliance with plans.
- Notify the Contractors Shift Boss and/or Mine Captains of all non-compliant work and ensure it is rectification prior to resources being reallocated.
- Notify the LCML Mine Superintendent of all non-compliant work that required your interaction and the outcome of your interaction.
- For critical work such as rises, both production and infrastructure, ensure your presence to manage the quality of drilling and charging to maximise the chances of a successful blast.
- Provide regular feedback on the direction and performance of the underground mining contractors to the LCML Mine Superintendents.
Academic Qualifications and Experience:
- Full Grade 12 Certificate.
- Degree/Diploma in Mining Engineering.
- 3 – 5 years underground mining experience.
