Brilliance Executive Management Consultancy Limited (BEMCONSULT) has been engaged by Joint Country Programme (JCP) to assist in the identification and recruitment of a highly motivated and competent Service Staff/Driver to be stationed at the Country Office in Lusaka.

Organization Background
Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) and Dan Church Aid (DCA) have been working together with strong partnerships in Zambia for over 50 years. During this time, they have been working closely with a range of faith-based and secular partners with two overall strategic priorities, Gender Justice, and Economic Justice. Since formalizing a joint country program (JCP) in 2011, NCA and DCA work together to empower rights-holders, especially women and youth. Through strong networks and alliances within Zambian civil society, they uphold and protect people’s dignity and promote their active participation in the development of their country. The JCP Zambia is a fully merged country programme where funding, technical advice, lobbying & advocacy, communication, and administration is shared and coordinated, with NCA as the lead agency. Their current programs focus on Gender Justice (including Gender-Based Violence), Climate-Smart Economic Empowerment, and Fighting Inequality.

 

 

Job Purpose
The Service Staff/Driver will offer basic Office Adminitrative, Logistical Support and Fleet Management Services. Will also ensure that the office premises/ Residence and surrounding areas are always kept clean. Ensure proper maintenance of the garden at the JCP Office/ Residence and this will include watering and lawn mowing as well as maintenance of flower beds. Ensure that the logbook is filled in properly for each trip, including the Km-reading at the start of the trip, at the end of the trip, and the description of the trip.

Summary of Key Responsibilities;

  • Ensure that all vehicle keys will be handed to the Lead Driver to be locked in the safe after every trip. If any fittings are made/needed or equipment is moved, notify the Lead Driver.
  • Ensure that the logbook is filled in properly for each trip, including the Km-reading at the start of the trip, at the end of the trip, and description of the trip.
  • Assist in maintenance work on the buildings, assembling and disassembling of furniture, and other practical tasks as assigned.
  • When driving ensure that the passenger’s adherence to Zambian law (traffic and safety).
  • Report immediately to the Lead Driver, any mechanical problems, unusual noise, or other abnormality, and ensure that the problem is fixed.
  • Ensure that all essential equipment is kept with the vehicle and is in good working condition, for example, car jack, spare tires, triangles: First Aid Kit, etc.
  • Report vehicle accidents immediately
  • Act as a relief for Service Staff when one is either sick or on leave, cleaning of offices and preparing lunch and water for coffee and tea.
  • Acting as a Relief Driver when all drivers are out of the station.
  • Ensure that vehicles and/or trailers are never overloaded.  And also ensure that all passengers have seat belts on when the vehicle is in motion.
  • At times work at the Residence at the NCA Roma house as a Relief when the gardener is on leave.
  • Report and at times attend to simple Electrical Maintenance
  • Clean offices and meeting rooms by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming making sure that office equipment is not damaged
  • Attend to cleaning in the Office Canteen as well as all items in the offices
  • Prepare compost for use in the gardens
  • Keep all tools including lawnmowers in proper condition and well maintained.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the immediate Supervisor

Primary Areas of Accountability:

Qualifications and Experience

  • Must have a qualification in Basic Mechanics
  • A qualification in Office Management will be a plus
  • Must have a Clean and Valid PSV driving license.
  • Must have a minimum of 3-5 years of driving experience in Zambia, preferably for I-NGOs
  • Must have sound knowledge of vehicle maintenance and registration procedures
  • Must be able to propel the vehicle safely and lawfully and in accordance with Zambian traffic regulations.
  • Must have the ability to maintain the Safety, Security, and appearance of the vehicle at all times.
  • Must be able to conduct morning vehicle inspections before any trip
  • Must have good knowledge of the routes both in Lusaka and to the provinces.
  • Good knowledge of Zambian road conditions and traffic policies
  • Ability to speak the Major local languages (Nyanja, Bemba, Tonga) will be a plus
