Job Description

About Restless Development

Restless Development is a global non profit agency. We support the collective power of young leaders to create a better world. We are independently registered and governed in nine countries (India, Nepal, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda, UK, USA, Zambia and Zimbabwe) bound together by our vision for youth power. We run youth-led programmes to tackle the issues that young people care about the most as well as running a growing global Youth Collective.

We know young people have the power to solve the challenges we face in our world, but they are being side-lined. We are the agency that works with young people so they can lead in solving those challenges. Whether that means supporting communities to end child marriage or prevent HIV, we work with young people to change their lives and the lives of people in their communities.

Our programmes are genuinely life-changing, but we can’t do any of this without talented, creative individuals at every level of our organisation.

Our approach to safeguarding

Restless Development considers the welfare and protection of children, young people and vulnerable adults to be an organisational imperative with primacy over the success of programmes or strategic objectives. We recognize that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and we expect all of our staff, volunteers and partners to ensure we protect the communities in which we operate from harm and abide by our Safeguarding Policy.

About the Role

The AU-EU Youth Voices Lab-Power of the Collective (the Youth Voices Lab) is a four year initiative with a six-month inception period. Through its actions, it seeks to create a more youth responsive and inclusive society (General Objective). The initiative is driven by five partners whose combined expertise on youth-led and youth-informed work, and their track record on tackling key issues of  the Agenda 2063, the SDGs, and the AU-EU partnerships from a youth perspective.

The consortium, comprising five selected partners, will co-lead the AU-EU Youth Voices Lab. This initiative builds on existing actions, creating synergies and extending efforts. Notably: The Global Youth Collective network of Restless, with over 3000 youth-led organisations across 54 African countries, forms the foundation for the AU-EU Youth Voices Lab. The aim is to expand the network to 7,500 organisations, reaching a diverse range of young individuals and ensuring sustainability.

Restless Development is actively searching for an inspiring Senior Programme Coordinator in Zambia, and we’re looking for a vibrant individual dedicated to empowering youth for a sustainable future. As the Senior Programme Coordinator, you’ll be at the forefront, strategically leading engagements with the AU-EU Youth Voices Lab and directing the recruitment and launch of the Lab Advisory Mechanism. Your role also involves meticulously planning and executing physical meetings over a four-year period. Beyond that, you’ll be instrumental in fostering a lively virtual youth community, implementing a third-party support mechanism, and coordinating partner committee meetings for effective communication.

Additionally, you’ll have the exciting opportunity to drive youth empowerment through engaging activities like training sessions and Youth Power Hackathons, aligning with the Youth Fellows’ outlined themes. If you’re passionate about making a real impact and steering youth-focused initiatives towards sustainability, we encourage you to apply for this role. It’s a unique opportunity to be part of something transformative and meaningful.
