ICAP seeks to recruit for the following position to be based in Mongu Western Province: –

1.     JOB TITLE:  SENIOR DISTRICT MEDICAL ADVISOR (2)

REPORTS TO: PROVINCIAL LEAD

LOCATION:  MONGU

POSITION SUMMARY:

Working under the guidance of the Provincial Lead, the Senior Medical advisor will support activities to sustain the gains across the HIV/TB prevention, care and treatment cascade through an embedded mentorship approach and using QI methodologies in the assigned districts/facilities. He/She will specifically support district and facility level capacity building and targeted strengthening of non-communicable diseases’ management integration in HIV care, and the management of advanced HIV disease for Western province in Zambia.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinates mentorship at DHO and selected high volume health facilities on NCD integration in HIV care and AHD in line with the national guidelines.

Collaborate with DHO mentors to implement capacity building activities among front-line ART HCWs in screening and management of hypertension, diabetes, nutritional disorders, and mental health.

Organize and manage training sessions focusing on increasing NCD awareness, screening and management, and enhancing the knowledge and skills for HCWs to operationalize the integration process.

Organize and manage district and facility level structured and intense TA approach to strengthen the AHD management using the hub-and-spoke model, offsite training, regular onsite orientation meetings and weekly mentorship visits.

Facilitate service delivery and program gap identification across prioritized HIV/ TB program areas and build DHO capacity to initiate, implement, monitor, and report on QICs/QIPs for improved performance.

Monitor achievement of district level targets and discuss results and remediation measures.

Implement project workplan, reports and track progress and achievement.

Perform other related duties as directed by the supervisor

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS

Full grade 12 certificate

Degree in epidemiology, Medicine, or related field

Medical Officer: Master’s degree in public health will be an added advantage

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

At least 3 years’ demonstrated experience in HIV/TB clinical management

Trained in both adult and paediatrics ART

Training in advanced HIV management is desirable

Supervisory and mentorship experience in HIV/TB services at hospital level.

Ability to provide mentorship to program and clinical teams including medical doctors, clinical officers, nurses, and lay health providers.

A team player with ability to support coordination of HIV/TB services at district, facility, and community level.

Computer skills: Microsoft word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Experience working in donor funded projects is desirable

Fluent English oral and written communication skills
