Job Description
POSITION: SALES & MARKETING MANAGER
The Sales & Marketing Manager will be primarily responsible for executing the sales strategy of the hotel with the ultimate objective of maximizing revenues across all revenue-generating outlets in the organization, including rooms, meetings, events, and food and beverage.
The individual will provide guidance and direction to all associates to ensure they are adhering to the organizational policies, standards, procedures, and regulations. He/She will also be expected to function as a technical department resource and assist the Department Heads in all areas to ensure smooth, efficient operations.
Administration:
- Ensure efficient and professional operation of all team members in the Sales, Marketing, and Front Office Operations
- Guide the team to enable them to provide smooth guest service
- Initiate weekly and monthly department meetings with agenda and minutes focusing on sales and marketing strategy of the hotel
- Ensure all sales and marketing policies and procedures are in place and adhered to
- Conduct training of team members on technical and service aspects of their positions
- Establish control systems for controllable costs and labor in order to effectively meet budget guidelines
- Confirm that all team members clearly understand their job roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations in order to continuously improve department goals that are in line with the hotel’s strategy
- Initiate good communication between all departments and the sales, marketing, and front office teams to better serve our guests
- Responsible for hiring, training, and development of all colleagues working for the department
- Counsel team members on work-related concerns and issues to ensure satisfaction and productivity
- Supervise and approve the weekly schedule of the department
Sales and Marketing:
- Devise and implement the overall sales and marketing plan for the hotel and actively monitor its progress in terms of achieving KPIs, budgets, and revenues
- Liaise with the General Manager and Directors in adopting price strategies across the hotel
- Build on and develop relationships with current clients
- Analyze current markets, build and develop relationships with current clients, and identify new markets and potential clients
- Organize and conduct site inspections and familiarization trips in conjunction with the Hotel team
- Manage the guest database and ensure that client details are accurate and up-to-date
- Ensure that all client correspondence is tracked and recorded, including quotations and contracts
- Maintain the highest standards of professional conduct at all times when dealing with clients, guests, etc.
- Submit weekly Sales & Marketing activity reports to the General Manager and Directors
- Represent the hotel at consumer trade fairs, mall promotions, and tourism events both at local and national levels
- Follow up on collection of payments from clients after completion of functions
Digital Platforms and Social Media:
- Manage the number and performance of third-party and promotional websites and liaise with providers to ensure optimization of the hotel’s online position
- Proactively monitor the hotel’s profile on various social media platforms and ensure appropriate responses are posted in a timely fashion
- Liaise with the Digital Team in managing the content of the hotel’s website
- Develop and agree on departmental sales plans and communicate them clearly to all parties
Branding:
- Manage all promotional collateral from copyright through to design and print and ensure that it is in line with organizational branding
- Ensure in-house promotional material is current, effective, and supports any new sales and marketing promotions
- Where necessary, devise adverts for the promotion of the Food & Beverage departments in the local market
Your Team:
- Lead and develop your Sales & Marketing team by proactively coaching and mentoring team members
- Conduct weekly snapshot meetings with your team and update on activities/sales to date and plans for the weeks ahead
- Monitor the progress of your sales team through weekly activity reports
- Encourage positive working relations with all departments by regular communications and feedback
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field (MBA preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales and marketing, with at least 2 years in a managerial role
- Proven experience in developing and executing successful sales and marketing campaigns
- Strong understanding of digital marketing channels, including SEO, SEM, social media, and email marketing
- Experience with CRM software, marketing automation tools, and sales analytics platforms
